maturity of such young children

I am interested in other peoples views on the fast physical maturity of young girls today. My family rarely eats store bought meats, hence hormones and such. So my daughter is so much behind the other children her age. She is a fifth grader, with all the girls around her reaching very high physical maturity levels. The other children ask her, "why her chest is so flat". Is it completely terrible that I don't allow my children such unhealthy hormones and steroids in their food? My daughter gets looked upon as she is the "different" one.? Fifteen years ago, this totally wasn't the case. Girls all reached these levels in their own time, early cases starting in fifth grade, and on up. I find it very disturbing that something more isn't being done about this. I feel terrible that 10 year old girls have to deal with the things grown women have to put up with.

Sorry, I am not aware of your age! I am 27 years old. I know that as a child, there were very few of us that even started to bloom this early. All in different ways. I agree genetics have a partial part in it. My point is.......almost the whole 5th grade is developed in one way or another! This was not the case when I was a child. There are fourth graders that at times look bigger in the chest, and are taller than me. Im not that tall, but after everything we have seen and read about these hormones and steroids in our food, I can only blame these things on this problem. We need to completely go back to all natural.! I raise pigs, yes, they are our pets, but we butcher them as well. And the kids learn alot from the experience of it......Just like if you think back to the old days, the way people survived. They were not forced to eat all of these artificial things put into our livestock, nor our foods, to keep them "looking" fresh.. I really think more steps need to be taken to ensure the health of our children in the future.

it's not terrible that you dont allow your child to eat unhealthy food. we as parents to get our kids into healthy habits. i try to keep my kids away from fast food but sometimes for me its hard due to our demanding schedules my 8 yr old daugther weighs 90 pounds and is already developing her chest and i'm already worrying for her because she's still a baby. but i also think it runs in the family. but thats not always the case for every 1 and these foods now and days you dont know what the hell thier putting them besides heromes.

Artificial growth hormones are terrible!! When grocery shopping I try to buy all food products that do not contain growth hormones, are organic/and or natural. Kids grow up fast enough days as it is without all these steroids in the foods they eat.
