This sort of thing rarely happens to me... but last Saturday... i woke up at 2 o'clock in the morning... no matter how hard i try... i can't get back to sleep... i tried closing my eyes for a long time... read some discussion in mylot, through my cell phone... but these didn't work... So i decided to do the laundry... all 5 loads of them... and i finished at 5:30 am... by that time i heard my baby cry... so i went back to the bedroom to lay down next to her... and then... i feel asleep... At last!... What do you do when you wake up at 2 o'clock in the morning?...

Hello aseretdd, Quite often I will wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep after that. If I am not too lazy, I will boil water and make a cup of hot drink. I will either surf the internet or just watch movies or maybe read a book or magazine. Like you, I always fall asleep just one or two hours before my alarm wakes me up again.

Not very common to me since I when I will start to close my eyes, I will really sleep and sleep and sleep! hahahha..that true, I have even a hard time watching TV and finishing the movie without napping in between! But, if ever, It will happen to me, I will just do blogging a lot... well, its good for you since you were able to finish all your laundry..you were very productive as early as that...

I usually try hard to get back to sleep if the next day is a working day. If the next day is not a working day, then I would definitely get up and get online, do some work and respond to some discussions in mylot. Then like at 4/5am, I usually could go back to sleep without feeling time is wasted with my tissing and tossing in bed.

Many wife often suffer this in the midnight. Once she wake up, she is hard to get back to sleep. In the morning, I see her black eyepit, I feel very sad. But I don't know how to help her. What a pity!

well seriously. im still up at 2 am. but on weekends, it happens to me too. but it only happens when i sleep at 7 pm . What do i do? i go outside and have a walk. its cool, fresh and clean. relax a bit and have a little chit chat with the people outside. ( yes theyre all up at 2 am). Then i would go online, talk to friends , visit my friendster, myspace , multiply and facebook. then when my eyes starts to hurt, i would go lay down in the bed, read sweet messages from my girl, try to sleep again. then boom. snoring already. try not to drink to much water at night, and put room temperature a little colder :)

Taking a walk at time would be just lovely... but in the area that i live... that sort of thing is quite dangerous... so if that happens to me again... it's laundry or ironing activity for me... tiring but productive... thanks for the response... welcome to mylot... i hope you enjoy your stay here...

Well, if for some choice I do wake up at 2 a.m. it would usually be because I went to sleep really early the night before, and then I wake up not able to fall back to sleep. But occassionally I have nights as well where I toss and turn all night, and then if I have to get up, I usually find myself coming back to my Computer and a lot of times I also end up posting here in myLot or checking my Email depending on how long I feel I will be up.

Going to the bath with a book is a unique way to pass the time... i have never thought of that... maybe because my apartment bathroom is not a really good place to relax... thanks for the response...

I agree with you... good thing that i do not need to worry about being late for work... or trying not to look too tired... but i certainly would love it if this happens again to me on a weekend... it is like an early start in doing all those chores... thanks for the response...

That really happen to me at the same day and at the same time! haha. sounds weird but I think it is normal to feel that way. Sometimes, you can't sleep even if you are not thinking of anytime. Sometimes, you just feel like it is so difficult to sleep without any reason or the reason is, what time can you sleep since you woke up at the wrong time. But you waking up in that time, and do all your laundry stuff is worth it, unlike me, woke up, but just lied on bed and waiting to fall asleep again. Lazy me! Keep posting, Mickey

Well, i think using that time productively is great... it is a good thing that i decided not to just lie down... and do the laundry... it saved me a lot of chore time... but when it happens again... i think i will just clean the fridge... thanks for the response...

That is so sad... do you have a certain kind of insomia... not being able to sleep early at night can be a reason for a certain health problem... have you ever consulted a doctor about it?... thanks for the response...

I've woke up at 4 o'clock in the morning many times, In that case I'll try to return to sleep but if I fail to fall asleep I just stay up(watching TV, eating or something else)until I start my day at 6 O'clock. If I wake up in hours like 2 O'clock in the morning I'll do everything to fall asleep so in the next morning I wouldn't feel totaly tired all morning...

I agree... if it does happen to you... the best way is to use that time productively... it will be a waste of time to just lie there in bed thinking about nothing at all... thanks for the response...

When I wake up around 2AM what I do depends on how wide awake I feel. If I'm nervous mind going, too much awake, I'll do stuff like laundry, boring stuff usually like straightening out drawers trying to bore myself to sleep. If I'm tired, but can't sleep, I'll watch TV or read until I know I can go back to sleep. I'm also really bad about starting to snack away as soon as I get up. How long did the baby let you sleep - not long enough probably?

Well, even if straightening out drawers is boring... it is still productive... my husband usually does that... the baby let me sleep until 8 am... which gave me three hours of sleep time... quite okay for me... thanks for the response...

i hate it when i wake up early in the morning and can not get back to sleep.it does not happen often, thank goodness.if it does happen i tend to either get up for a while and go on the computer or i read until i feel tired again.i have learnt not to just lie there and hope sleep comes, because all i do is toss and turn and it makes it worse.cheers sue

It is also a good thing on my part that this sort of thing rarely happens... that is why when it does... i usually just lie there... but now that i experienced using that idle time productively... i guess, when it happens again... i know what to do... thanks for the response...

I struggle to go back to sleep. this is such a tiering experience. I never seem to be able to go back to sleep until 5 O'Clock there abouts when I should be looking to get up especially when i used to work. Whenever this happens I end up feeling like a wreck for the rest of the day. I learnt to combat that by not going to bed until I am very tierd. This is usually very late but its the best I cope with not waking up in the wee hours of the morning. See. Your not alone. (lol)

next time you wake up in the morning... pray to the god, ask for His guidance to right path.. sounds so naive, but that is the best way to do i think..

I usually can not go to sleep till 12 at night these days, sometimes I am still awake at 2 o'clock. At that time I am just lying on my bed, closing my eyes, and thinking those things happened in the daytime. I know it is a very hard time when you become insomnia. Why not take it a chance which god give you thinking about your life? Don't be nervous about it. If you can not rest at time, you may find another time to go to sleep. Good luck to you.

Having insomia can be quite a problem for some... my sister has this condition... but it proved beneficial for her... she now works in a call center... and here in my country... this type of job requires one to work during the graveyard shift... so she works at night and sleeps during the day time... thanks for the response...
