Today Was The Best Day Ever!

Today (04/07) is my son's birthday. He's three! I can't believe how fast the time has flown. But it has, and here we are. We had a grand day today. I am a stay-home mom, but it isn't often that I get the opportunity to completely abandon my housework and just spend the entire day revolving around my son. Today was the day to do exactly that. We left this morning and went to the dollar store to pick up a small bag of cheap cat food and some decorations for his party on Saturday. Upon leaving the store, we passed a bank of quarter machines (I rarely let him play with them), and I let him clean my wallet out of quarters! I probably had $3 worth in there.. We then went to our local Publix and got his favorite meal, "fried" chicken, potato salad, green beans, mac n cheese, and bakery-cookies. I had brought a picnic basket and blanket from home, so I loaded the groceries in the basket and took him to the local park. We spread our blanket and ate our lunch by the duckpond there, and afterward fed the ducks and fish the cat food I had purchased. After feeding the ducks, we wandered over to the playground and he played there for over an hour! Then we came home just in time to greet my husband as he was walking in the front door, and we were walking in the back. We all had a great dinner at my grandmother's house (she lives right across the street) of everyone's leftovers, and he opened his gifts from my parents and grandparents. They don't like to overwhelm him on the day of his party, so we always do something with them on his actual birthday. Then we came home, P. had a bubble bath, we brushed our teeth, and he STILL wasn't ready to go to bed! For the first time in a very long while, I had to take him for a drive to get him to sleep! So to turn this into a discussion, what about you? What are your fondest memories of your children's birthdays? What are your fondest memories of your own childhood birthdays? I had an absolutely wonderful time today, and these are memories that I will cherish forever, though he may or may not remember the day's happenings. I hope you all get the chance to have as wonderful a day in your life as I have had today!

What a great way to spend the day with your little angel. My daughter turns 5 on the 29th of April we are having a few family members over and are going to have ice cream and cake and let her open packages. I hope she has a nice time.
