I know a lot of people that are on Dating sites. What do you guys think? Are you a member? Have you found love through one of these sites? What would you say if you knew your teen was on a site like these? Would you create a fake account to see what their up to? Or would you sit down and talk to them about it? Where do you draw the line and how do you bring it up without invading their space? Thanks!

I have never been a part of any dating sites(not interested) but I feel it is a great option for someone who wishes to do so. But on the same hand I also believe you would have to be VERY careful. There are alot of crazy people in this world and it could be very dangerous. Which is the exact reason if I had teenage kids ( I don't) I would NOT allow them to be part of such a site. Teenagers do not know how to protect themselves from such dangers.

I actually joined match.com a month ago today, and while it's been slow moving over there I do find myself impressed with the types of people on their site.
Most of them are those that are fed up with games and looking for something that could turn serious, which is the point that I find myself at.
Through all of the questions the site asks and all of the areas of interest you can describe on there, you can get a pretty good idea on who someone is long before you first contact them.
Now since you ask from a parent's perspective, I know my parents wouldn't approve of it. Mostly it is because they lack the understanding of the internet as well as its advances. They would tell me to go out and meet someone in public that I can see. Well in public the only information I would have available to me is the person's appearance and perhaps their personality. While I have no issues doing this, I will find myself continuing to play the hit or miss game.
It is my belief that if someone is willing to pay $34 for a one month subscription or over $150 for a 6 month subscription on a dating website, they will be very truthful in what they are writing. They will not be playing games and your chances of a relationship with one of them turning into something serious is far greater than meeting someone at a coffee shop who has absolutely nothing to lose by being deceitful about their true intentions.

Dating is not a wrong doing unless its done for a meaningful relationship. The whole world is shrunk by the rapid development of internet and hence we do have ample oppurtunities now to meet and exchange ideas and create good relationship with people all over the world. With this sole intention i am a member in many dating sites and guess what? I do have a couple of good friends in my circle right now!
