Has anyone had a baby diagnosed with FTT? What steps did you take to help the situation get better.

My son was a premie (3 months early) and had failure to thrive. His was attributed to being too weak to eat. I would feed him what he would take over an hour and then insert a tube via his nose and give him the balance of the feeding. Please note: I am an R.N. and the tube feedings were approved by his neonatologist and pediatrician. Many larger hospitals have "feeding clinics" where you can be referred. The specialists there will determine why your child has failure to thrive and come up with strategies to improve the situation. If you have not been seen in a feeding clinic please ask your pediatrician if there is one nearby to which your baby can be referred.
