I've always heard to follow my gut when it comes to picking a religion but is that really the case?
I'm the middle child of 5 and all 5 children we're raised in the LDS church or as many people know it as mormons!!
As hard as I tried I could never truly know if it was me that believed in the church or if was the pressure around me from friends and family the told me to believe it was true untill one day I decided to go to different churchs to find out which one I really wanted to join.
I read all the books the bible the book of mormon... all and any books that we're given to me I read so that I might have a better understanding in what church I should join finally I prayed about what one I should join.
But still I didn't know untill finally one day I had this gut feeling that maybe just maybe the LDS church was the true church I felt so sure of the feeling that I had in that second so I prayed to make sure and I've never ever looked back I've gone head first into the LDS church and I've never been happier in my whole life!!!

It's not about religion when it comes to the salvation of our souls. It's a personal relationship with Jesus. You might consider reading the Word of God the Bible, the one that is not changed = the King James Version.
Many Bibles today had been changed to suit the doctrine of a certain religion, but God has preserved the KJV.
Why not try to attend a Bible-believing, fundamental, independent, soul-winning, hell-fire preaching church.. I believe there are a lot in your place. Try the Baptist Church!

Why do people say "it's not about religion" when this topic comes up? Religion is exactly what it is. If you look up where the word comes from, it's derived from a Latin word that means "relinking." Someone who adopts a religion has the purpose of reuniting with God because they have felt separate from God. I would think Christianity, no matter the flavor, has that purpose. Isn't that what Jesus was supposed to be about?
But it's also true of any other religion. Any time you practice religion you are trying to get closer to what you perceive as God. Where people argue over which religion is the right one, what they're arguing about is what the correct procedure is for getting close to God. Some people feel there's only one correct procedure and some don't.

I also disagree with you its all about religion and You know I'm happy that I've found some where that I feel that I belong whether people agree with me or not I feel safe in saying that I know the LDS church it the right church for me and I believe strongly in my believes whether or not people agree with me I don't know and really don't even let it get to me if they do care!!!
I feel reconnected with God and Jesus christ as two seprate people and I love the feeling I get from that connection!!
So to be truly honest with you its all about religion its not just about what god as preserved its what god is telling us we should do now!!!
Its a different world from the world King James lived in and the world today although I love reading the bible and the book of Mormon and I learn a lot from these two books. I believe with out someone to guide us through our days now we would not be able to go back to Jesus by ourselfs therefore I believe in a prophet in our world today!!!
