sure, can do that. i have ubuntu and XP running on the same system, each on a different harddisk.if your hard disk is large enough it can share it with XP. but my problem with that is that u can end up losing your XP and data unless u are a pro. so to be on the safe side get a new harddisk for ubuntu.
to set up ubuntu.
since u already have XP HD as master, u have to do a little change. Your new HD has to become master and XP HD becomes slave. this because ubuntu comes with an already existin bootloader which will automatically accept XP with additional tweaks. after the changes go ahead and install ubuntu from your CD.
a word of caution: if u are not sure of what u are doing, remove ur XP HD and only install ubuntu on the new one. after installation, put back the XP HD as slave and the bootloader will accept XP.
any problems, just give a shout or send an instant message to 'inijayjay' on yahoo or msn!
have a swell time.

hi gmwgreat, sorry for the break. what u have to understand is that ubuntu does not function like windows. during windows installation, every thing goes slow too but bcos of the moving squares, it looks as if its moving fast(mind tricks). ubuntu does not have that moving square, so it looks boring. during my first installation of ubuntu, i had to stop it midway but later i started again. just be patient, it will come through, as all softwares do! cheers
