i have a friend, she does intersting ,rewarding work at a tiny specialized consultancy.she likes the hours and the people, but the pay is measly.she has been told she can rewrite my job description, although it wouldn't mean much more money, instead, she could go for a bog-standard analyst position with a bank, with longer hours, but increase my salary by at least 50 persent, what should she do?

I think you should stick with what you are happy with, although this bank job may have longer hours and a better pay, you may not enjoy the work and therefore if you wanted to leave, would the people you work for now give you your job back??
Although the money is rubbish in the job that you enjoy, what is more important to you - a job that offers money or one that is enjoyable?
