I was always afraid of chihuahuas because when I was little I got bitten by one. All the ones I have ever met have been mean little creatures. I told myself I would NEVER own one. My sweeties sister is a dog groomer and someone came in with this little chihuahuas and said they could not take care of it. So my fiance decided he wanted him. When I first met Rambo, he growled at me. I told Phil I cant deal with a dog that growls. He told me Rambo growls at everyone. But it doesn't mean anything. YEAH RIGHT!! I know when a dog growls he wants to bite. Well Rambo stayed at the groomers for a few days and I would go over and say hi. I finally petted him and he didn't growl at me. Slowly but surely that little ball of fire won my heart. He is now living in our house and he cant be away from me. Right now as I type this he is laying beside me. He is the most affectionate little boy I have ever had. (Yeah hes my little boy now) lol I love him to pieces. Oh and he no longer growls at anyone. I think it might have been because he was scared and in a new place. He greets people with a wag of his tail and he loves to be petted. I would not trade him for the world now. So, have you ever gotten a pet that normally you would not have in your house??

Just because you were bitten by a chihuahua doesn't mean that he is going to come back and haunt you in every chihuahua. All dogs have different personalities. I find myself owning and loving my pit mix. He is the most calm, least rough housing dog i have ever scene. He gets rough with my black lab when they are playing but i can't ever get him to wrestle with me. Dogs are more sensitive than you think. They just need some training to show them right from wrong.

Well, when your little and you have a bad experience it can make you afraid of things. I have been afraid of all dogs since being little but if they were min e I could get over it. I have never seen a chihuahua who didnt scare me though. Thats why I thought I would never have one. Even poor Rambo scared me at first. But he has taught me that I cant judge a book by its cover lol

chihuahua - I love the breed!
I have a chihuahua too and grew up with them. My parents have two of them now. Mine is a male while theirs are females but not for breeding for they're all fixed. They're wonderful little dogs and so loving and loyal to their owners. I got mine for the same reasons as you got yours, owner couldn't care for him. He'll be 10 in July but he's still acts like a puppy at play time. Good luck with yours!!

Rambo doesnt leave my side anymore. Hes so attatched and if i ignore him he whines at me. He ha a little ball he likes to bring to me so I can throw it for him to fetch. Sometimes he drives me crazy coz I need some alone space. lol but guess I'll get over it. Oh he also sleeps under the covers in our bed. Does yours do any of those things?? I wouldnt mind having a chihuahua puppy.

Peanut used to be beside me all the time but now he's fine by himself. In fact, he loves to be by himself now more than ever but I think it's due to haveing so many others too. We have 9 cats and 5 dogs so yeah, it's no wonder I find him in the spare bedroom all by himself. lol But being alone is wonderful even with a little dog because you're still alone and can talk to him like I do my little buddy boy and he'll listen to everything I say. lol Like he understands. lol He loves to play fetch with a ball or a toy and still does even though he's up in age a little bit. And he likes to sleep under the covers too. He even has a blanket on the couch just for him. I've spoiled him rotten but I wouldn't change a thing. Now if you ever decide to get a chihuahua puppy, be sure that it's never teased because it will make them mean. That's one thing a lot of people don't realize, chihuahua's have a normal mean streak in them and if it's brought out by teasing or anything of that nature, you'll never be able to control that. It can still be a loving dog but it can bite much more quicker than if it weren't ever teased. Just thought I'd let you know if case you didn't already.

yes I got a breed of dog I would never have gotten on my own, it was a bassethound, that had to be the stupidest dog I ever had. He howled so much the landlord threatened to put us out if we kept the dog, so I had to find him a new home

I never ever imagined I would have goats... and I just love Pickles and Tulip. They are now part of who I am. Oh...they are not in the house...

No not yet. We prefer larger dogs. We have had cats. Fish too. Currently have a beta. And a black lab whippet mix dog. Pretty average as pet owning goes.

Well, I am happy he won your heart. I love chihuahuas. I can't stay I've ever got a pet that I didn't want. But I have said I'd never have a pet in the house. Well 9 years ago I got 2 kittens and they live in my home. Then I said I'd never let a dog live in the house. Then I bought my husband a dog after our outside dog had to be put down. And guess what? She lived in our home. Isn't it funny how we change our minds after getting to know these little creatures.

Yes. I sure have. I always wanted a chow but never could afford one. I finally got one but it was already grown. That was a big mistake. I love dogs but this dog had been mistreated and was very mean. I didn't know until after we got it home. We had to take it to the animal shelter because we just could not deal with it. I have a Pomeranian now. We have had him for ten years.
