When did your kids start walking?

My son isn't even 8 months yet, and he's trying to walk. He can almost pull himself up onto things, and when you're holding his hand, he can take steps already. And not just a few, he walks around the living room. His balance is starting to get really good. He hasn't even started crawling yet, and he wants to walk already.
How old were your kids when they decided it was time to walk?
Did they skip crawling all together?

My eldest didnt crawl she learnt to shuffle about on her bottom and boy could she fly lol she didnt walk until she was 19 months consultant she was seeing about her hips said that was normal for bum shufflers. SHe didnt actually crawl until she was 22 months she didnt learn to roll over until then either lol! She was a really quiet baby so her little sister was a huge shock rolling everywhere at 20 weeks crawling at 8 months standing up at 9 and walking around furniture and then she walked at 11 months, now at 2 years old she just runs everywhere no stopping either of them lol!

My little boy can scoot around, and he rolls around the living room to get where he wants to go. He walks backwards in his walker, but not forwards.
When he gets going, he can almost run while holding your hands if he gets excited.
I must admit, he is a pretty big boy. I've been asked if he's 18 months before.
He's 23 lbs, 28 inches tall, and he'll be 8 months on the 12th.

Sounds just like my youngest she was 22lb at 7 months bless her and always on the move she loved walking around holding our hands and its amazing how fast they can go when being supported. I really miss all that stage watching them learn to crawl and walk, although we are getting all the fun of watching my eldest learnt to write her name and my youngest learn to talk but I do miss and its one of the reasons we cant wait to have another baby in a couple of years!

I hope to have another in a year or two. All depends on a lot of things. I love watching him learn. I can't wait for him to talk. I hope he says MAMA first, though I doubt he will.

My one year old daughter basically skipped crawling all together, she was scooting around when she was 7 months and by 9months she was up and walking, now shes running around everywhere at 17months. Its crazy, my sister-in law's sun is 3 months younger than her and he's walking around holding on to anything and everything but not walking by himself yet. i guess it really depends on the kid.

I guess so. I'm only asking because his little cousin is a week younger than him, and he army crawls himself around the room. And my little boy just sits there and watches, but he's also a lot bigger than him, and he started out as a premie.
A premie that was 7 lbs I guess just doesn't happen that often. He's not even 8 months yet, and he's 23 lbs (weight at the doctor's yesterday), and he's 28 inches tall. He's half the size of me!
I'm always asked if he's 18 months because of his size. He's wearing 18 months clothes, but he's not that old.
He can run while holding someones hands. I'm going to have my hands full when he starts. lol.

I have helped raise my niece since she was born. She kind of skipped crawling. She got on her hands and knees and rocked back and forth a few times but that was about it. At nine months she was walking and running. She'd fall down but she'd gt herself right back up. She was holding on to our fingers and standing really early. She had very strong legs and we figured she'd start walking at a young age but at 9 months we wished it would have been a bit later. We had fun keeping up with her.

He hasn't even tried crawling. He just doesn't want to. He likes to roll around, sit up and scoot around on the floor, and hold on to people and walk.
He's starting to get quite good at it.

At 10 months, our youngest used the couch to pull himself into a standing position and kinda side-step his way along the couch (we have a large L-shaped couch)by 11 months he was walking around pretty good by himself. He didn't go far, but was able to walk across the room. On his birthday, in front of his grandparents (who hadn't seen him take more than 2 or 3 steps) he took his first running steps and was able to walk the length from front to back and then front again.
Once he took thos first couple of steps, he was not happy with the walker again (and he used to motor around in his walker)
Our son never crawled until he decided to play under the dining room table... he had been walking for a few months before we ever saw him crawl.
Once a little boy starts walking, you won't get a moments peace...LOL

lol, that's what I'm afraid of.
The only time he will sit in his walker is if I'm in the kitchen cooking and he can watch. As of today he can pull himself up on my clothes, but he hasn't quite gotten the whole balance thing down yet.
His father's parents are seeing him soon, and they haven't seen him try to get around like this. So it will be a big surprise to them.

Hey, little man seems to be in hurry! My son is 14 months old and he started to walk, but only when we had holding his hands, only when he was 10 months. Not even now he can't walk
to much and not to take a tumble. Good luck!

He really is. I don't know what I'm going to do when I walk in his room and he's going to be standing by himself. I'm either going to cry with joy, or because I'm just not ready for it yet.
