Sleeping Pills and Side Effects

So I have trouble falling asleep most of time so I've been taking Ambien. I've never experienced the whole sleep walking/eating/driving/etc but once I did hallucinate! I was laying there in bed, nearly asleep when something made me open my eyes. I looked straight ahead at my dresser and it was swirling, morphing, and turning into strange (but beautiful) glowing orbs that began to come towards me. I then glanced to my left at my desk and it was doing the same thing! I called my boyfriend (it was about 1am) said "Babes, I'm tripping out" hung up and fell sound asleep. He made fun of me for about a week but since it never happened again I forgot about it. A few weeks ago a co-worker was telling us about a similiar experience, and sure enough, she takes Ambien too! Has anyone else ever experienced this or anything else bizarre while taking sleep meds?
