I think because japanese foods are getting more and more famous and that what is all about. Moreover, it is undeniable that their foods are completely amazing, as sushi is one of those. There are number of sushi restaurant in Singapore, and that, it creates an image and attention. Singaporean I think always want to try foods that is something special. Because there are tons of real and faux japanese eating places everywhere? Because it's the IN thing to be seen eating sushi? Because real sushi does taste good? Because Singaporeans are asians and Japanese food is asian cuisine? Because conveyor-belt sushi is fast food minus the oils and fats BTW, welcome to mylot :) I don't think any Singaporean eat sushi everyday. 2 million of Singapore adults is a lot to fill the restaurants without having to go everyday.
