As a computer technician i have tried a few different ones. I'll reccomend File Scavenger as one to try. It isnt free but you can even recover data off of a drive windows is reading as unformatted with it. My boss prefers recovermyfiles (i dont like it because while it does recover the files....it names them all unknown file 001 unknown file 002 etc.)

There are many data recovery software out there and many of them aren't free. Check out PC Inspector - www.pcinspector.de Zero Assumption - www.z-a-recovery.com Piriform Recuva - www.recuva.com GetDataBack - www.runtime.org EasyRecovery DataRecovery - www.ontrack.com/software R-Studio File Recovery - www.data-recovery-software.net I have tried GetDataBack before and its quite good, but not free....PC Inspector isn't that great, but no harm trying since its free...
