Is children's dental insurance worth the cost?

I have a young son and am considering not putting him on my dental insurance this year. The cost of the visits, may end up costing less than the monthly premium fees. He has all of his baby teeth except for the two and won't need much more than a cleaning. What do you think? Is dental insurance worth the cost, or is it better to just pay the bill at the office?
