Yaoi, is it good?

it vary i don't think it's matter if it yaoi or not it depend on the mangaka if they want the characters to go too far. i have read some manga where they do it in almost all the chapters. someone once told me that most guy have strong desire that's why they can do it with other people and ignore the whole doibg it with their first love crap.

I loooooves it. It's a matter of taste really. Some people like it some people don't. I prefer not to lable entire genres of entertainment as evil ^_^' or good or bad, or anything really. They just are what they are. Incest in itself is a fringe topic and it's brought up -- generally to make things more interesting. I only like that aspect if it does something to augment the plot. Otherwise I don't care much about it. I need -substance- to my animes, let alone yaoi. *sorrowful sigh* Being so picky sucks in a subgenre I like lol.

I'm not even interested in Yaoi, but I see no harm coming from it.

I adore yaoi as well. There's really not much that squicks me after so many years participating in various fandoms, although I have to say that shota still bothers me. I don't even like it when they say the character is older but then draw him as a child. Incest, however, is no problem for me. I certainly don't support it in life, but when it's fictional, it can be very fun to see the story play out. I suppose it's all a matter of personal taste!

Ehh. I think it's an acquired taste. You either start getting used to it to the point of liking/loving it, or you just never like the taste, ever. I first really encountered yaoi when a friend from college brought printed pages of doujinshi she found on the net on one of our hang-outs. I had already encountered yaoi by that time since I was already aware of fanfiction then, but just as I don't go out reading fanfics about series I'm not aware of, I don't go out reading stories about pairings I'm not aware of, either (just because pairing names are written in the summaries doesn't mean I'll immediately get they're meant to be romantic... unless the summary explicitly said so). So even when I knew people pair up two hot guys because of various reasons (they're hot, they're interesting together, their yaoiholics who yaoi-ize every hot male they see), I've never really SEEN two guys being paired off. So when I checked the pages (she told me to read it), I was surprised to the point of yelping, the pages I had in my hand flew and I bet I surprised a few onlookers if they happen to see just what was in those papers. Well, it's been years now and I actually support a few slash pairings. Still iffy about explicit stuff, but I'm iffy about explicit stuff regardless of what it is, so it's not a matter of, "Is it because it's yaoi?" deal.

I've read some of it and some is good while others are bad. To me, it goes to far with the incest thing. I don't get anything out of reading that.

i like yaoi but not the so called hardcore ones. i like the shounen ai and slash ones, well when it comes to incest even if the genre is not yaoi i dont like the idea of siblings are being paired.

i like yaoi, but i'll read it as long as it has an actual storyline. I dont like incest pairings, or shota (underaged person(s)).

Out of curiosity, I've looked at hentai and yaoi hentai before, some are good, but I do think some go too far. i don't like the hentai that involve family members doing it, and ones with monsters, rape and blood involved. xD
