Blog advice - what should I use to promote my blogs

Hi. I haven't done any blog promotion for a while, and some of the sites like BlogMad etc. that used to be good are now either nearly dead or there are newer sites and programs which would be better to use. Which ones should I use these days? Also, what tweaks and widgets can you recommend adding to the blog? eg. addthis.com button, RSS feed (someone please tell me how that stuff works!!) etc. TIA Simon :-)

I have had some luck with entrecard & blogcatalog - both brought me about 50 new readers last month! It also helps to go onto different blogging forums and promote your blog. I am thinking of running some contests also soon.
