So what i want to know is... Do u think that kids should have game consols in their bedrooms? Some people say that it is bad for them watching and playing to much tv... I think that kids should be aloud to have a choice on what they want to do... And if kids stay out of trouble when they are on there consols then thats good! But i dont think that they should me aloud to play violent ones though! Some mums say that telly keeps them up all night! Do u think that is true? So what do u think??....

I think the parent needs to restrict the child and allow him to play for a certain number of hours and if he behaves bad, take the console away until he behaves good. I think children should be allowed to watch TV and play games as long as they do their chores and homework and go to sleep on time.

It depends entirely on the child. Some children are well equipped to spend days in their rooms with no social contact. That ISN'T a bad thing. Some kids are naturally anti-social and don't like being around people. Some kids are also naturally skinny. They can eat and eat and eat with no exercise and no ill effects, whereas an obese child shouldn't do that. Also, if a child is well equipped mentally they should be allowed to play violent games. For example, I started playing mortal kombat at 5, and played GTA 3 as soon as it came out (I was maybe 13? 5 years ago sounds about right). I was equipped to deal with this stuff, and it wasn't a big deal. This was mostly because i wasn't sheltered from it. My mother taught me the difference between reality and video games, and allowed me to spend my time the way I wish. Some kids have issues telling reality from fiction, and can't separate game from reality. These are the kids who shoot people and commit crimes based on video games and give jerks like Jack Thompson ammo to go on his close-minded crusades. The kids who can't separate reality from fiction are a danger anyways, and frankly if playing a game makes you kill someone then you should stay far away from the news, TV, the radio, and pretty much any media available. But enough ranting. I believe that the answer to your question is "yes, sometimes" Dan

NO NO NO! my kids do not have a tv nor computer nor anything of the sort in their room - firstly because i want to see them and spend time with them and secondly i want to monitor what they are doing (we have our computer in the kitchen and game cube in the living room).
