What's the best way of making the computer childproof or at least restrict junior household members from dangerous site son the web?

Don't let them near the PC! Seriously, though, software such as Kaspersky Internet Security has parental controls built in, then there are things like NetNanny which help protect against inappropriate content being viewed.
