I remember the last time i went to a tree planting activity was like two years ago... i was not satisfied with it because it was organized just for the sake of having an activity... there was no follow up... and the seedlings did not grow into a full tree... but died... The last successful tree planting was 6 yers ago when my girl scout troop went to the mountain side and planted some coconut trees for the indegious minorities... it was quite successful... and the people there are still reaping the fruits of those trees... Right now... i long to have a home of my own with a backyard big enough for me to plant a tree or two... i wish this will happen sooner... How about you?... when was the last time you planted a tree?... did it grow into a full tree... or do you have to plant another one?...

My Apple Trees - Planted 2 years ago
I planted 2 apple trees 2 years ago. I had a decent amount of apples from one the first fall. Last year I had about 100 total apples from both trees. So this year I am hoping for a lot more apples. I have donated to the Arbor Foundation for tree planting. My dad planted over 100 fruit and pine trees on his farm 10 years ago as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

The last time I planted a tree was when I was a kid. We'd get trees every year from the Arbor Day Foundation, enough trees for each child to take one home to plant. We planted those trees everytime I got one. Several of the pine trees we have lining our fence came from the trees I got from school. I can't believe they lasted so well and actually grew. We had more trees awhile ago to plant but I'm not sure what happened to them.

That is such a good thing... the Arbor Day Foundation giving seedling for kids to plant... and you did such a good job in planting them since they are still alive and growing in your property... i hope more foundation will do that... promotes love for the environment among the young ones... thanks for the response...

We just this week planted a Red Delicious Apple Tree. That makes 16 trees in our yard, most of them produce some king of fruit. I have jokingly said, "When I get old I'm going to pick the fruit, put it in baskets and sit on the curb selling fruit". I've sold apricots, peaches and pecans each year for the past three years. I hope to have apples for sale next year. LOL

Whenever an avocado seed sprouts I plant it but as we only stay 6 months in one place and then move I cannot keep such a tree. Usually a neighbor is happy to take a nice one, though. So I grow edible houseplants--things that grow fast and leaf out and then we eat them and start over again when we "move."

I remember those edible plants of your... especially the ginger... these small plants are the best that you can do... considering your lifestyle... i am just glad that you still take time to let a seedling grow... i hope your neighbor took care of them... an avocado tree is very useful... thanks for the response...

That is a very good question. Many years ago I would be involved in tree planting actions, usually with a class of students. One of the places we planted hundreds of trees was along the side of the expressway. They are all natives, & I would think they have a 50% survival rate. Anyway, back to me. It would be a few years since I planted a tree. The last time would have been at Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island where I planted 5 trees in my back yard. I mostly planted drooping sheoaks, as the black cockatoo needs them for food.

The trees along the side of the expressway is a very good one indeed... that would certainly help in the cleaning of the carbon dioxide emission of vehicles... i hope more than 50% survived... thanks for the response...

Hello aseretdd, I can't even remember when was the last time I planted a tree! I am really bad though... As you know, I am not good at it. Whatever I plant, will definitely die very soon. And so, I don't really have an interest in this.

Yes, i remeber that you are like my mother... who is very bad at taking care of plants... but then... there are other ways in which we can help the environment... not all people are for planting trees... thanks for the response...

That is a quite a long time ago... i hope the trees that seedlings that you planted survived... there is very little survival rate if there is no follow up of a tree planting activity... thanks for the response...

You are the same with my mother... every time she plants something... it will just die... or if my father will ask her to take care of his plants... these will eventually die in the future... so she leaves the garden alone... thanks for the response...

Wow, that was when I was in college year 2001. I really want to do tree planting activity and not just for the sake of having an activity but being with friends doing those type of things, will be more exciting. I wish I can do that again but for now, here in Singapore, I don't think they are organizing such an activity as the country (city) is too small for having so many trees. Haha. Keep posting, Mickey

I agree... Singapore is too small and too crowded to have a forest... but they can still set aside an area like a park where trees can grow... and visitors can enjoy them... i think there is such a place... i just forgot the name... thanks for the response...
