What do you think about fashion magazines?

I was browsing through an old Elle magazine and was amazed at the amount of adverts there are in there. I own a lot of these magazines as they are a useful resource when I am designing jewellery. I do wonder if anyone takes the aticles in their seriously, especially the beauty ones. I totally believe in amking the most of what you have, but surgery?! Please! People are so superficial these days, and when I see young girls starving themselves trying to look like the models in the mags it reaks my heart. How do you feel about magazines? Do you buy them for the articles, for the new trends or sometimes just for the free item with them? (guilt LOL, I have bought mags which include a free bag).

Hey you, glad your finding your way around! lol anyway back to the topic, fashion magazines...I dont tend to buy them as I find they can be so expensive. Plus its more adverts than anything, I understand they help you creatively which is good!! I prefer magazines that have stories and puzzles, sometimes I do buy a magazine for the freebie or if it is half price!
I hate seeing young girls starving themselves just to be a 'size zero' and people having surgery, yeah they maybe uncomfortable about the way their body is but surgery could make it 10 times worse!!

Hello, yes I am finding this site interesting. I also prefer puzzles, especially codewords hehe People need to learn to be content with what they have, rather than aspire to look like a celebrity.

I like looking at them mostly so I can come up with my own ideas for what I wear and how I do my hair and make up. I don't copy the fashion exactly but I like to make it my own.

I also get inspiration from some spreads they feature in mags- especially for hair.
