I went to the Post office earlier on which is in walking Distance from me
As I am walking back there is the Woman over the road with a little Dog, he was about the Size of my Gissi. The Woman is walking with this bloke who seems to be in a bit of a Hurry, what got me is this Woman is going just as fast dragging her dog not once looking behind her to see why he wanted to stop, a couple of times the Dog tried to lift his Leg and ended up being yanked to go faster
The poor little thing looked so sad
I felt like going to her and asking her how would she like me to put a Lead on her and drag her along but I didn't as I do not know what a reply I would have got
Other People noticed as well and where saying the poor Dog
I was so mad, I do not understand why People have to be like this to their Pets I really don't, I mean he needed to go, how would a Person like it being dragged of the Toilet while they are bursting to go

Why are people so mean to their pets? Why do they have pets if they are going to treat them that way?
I have been in a hurry and have had to stop for Petie. I know it only takes a few minutes. I also know male dogs think they have to hick their legs on everything even if they have no pee left.
When Petie gets like that instead of dragging him I will pick him up and carry him. It releave him of the stopping and me of the dragging. We are both happy.

Poor doggy. I just hope what ever reason for the hurry was a good one. I have a large dog so even if I was in a hurry my dog would just drag me lol.

People seem to have a cruel & insensative streak toward animals. Someone actually shot my cat over the weekend & it has cost him his leg. WTF could a cat have done to deserve that?
I'd have done something to slow her up at least if not said something. They don't deserve their pets.

Oh gabs, how awful for you of all people to have see something like this. Can you imagine if Gissi got treated that way? You'd be driven to murder I'm sure. So my suggestion is, if you see this woman again without her dog or man, have a quiet word with her. Perhaps her dog and Gissis could become friends? Then the next time she's in such a damn hurry to get out and about, she can drop her dog off to play with Gissi and not end up dragging it around town!

Then I would trust Gissi's judgement.
Rather makes me wonder though if that old fellow has been treated like that all his life. It would make him crabby and hard to get a long with. Sad.

gabs I have also seen people doing that to their dogs and it makes me want to scream dont, let that poor dog stop please. It is so heartless to drag the poor dog along like that when he needsto do his business. People that do that do not deserve their dogs at all. How would they like to be treated thatway?

Oh I know - I hate seeing people dragging their dogs along like that. Some people do that to their kids as well of course, how often do you see someone dragging some poor child that can hardly keep up along by the hand. When I see people doing stuff like that I always feel like asking them where are they actually going that's so important that it's ok to show that much disregard for their dog - or their child for that matter!

Poor little dog. My dogs don't get dragged behind me, it's the other way around. I have a beagle that could drag me when she was younger and has a strong pull every once in awhile now at almost 10. Now I also have a 1 yr old lab/ Aus. Sheperd, she could physically drag me across the yard if I let her, and she will if she has to potty and I try to make her hurry up and head back towards the house.
She will learn fast that dogs has to go potty when the little dog does his business in the house. I think I would have yelled out, I think he has to go potty, and maybe a longer leash is needed so he doesn't get dragged along.

Gabs, you should have said something or if you felt too awkward gotten someone else to confront her. I have a visual in my head now of this poor dog and it sounds abusive. That is as bad as a woman being publicly abused and people just walking by. Sorry Gabs, I really think you should have said something to someone.

Are you sure the dog actually wanted to pee and not just mark out his territory? I know my male dog tries to mark a lot, at like every few feet if allowed to, but I do not stop and let him. I give him the opportunity to pee before the walk and a couple of times during the walk, but if he keeps on stopping to mark I do just continue walking fully expecting him to follow even if that means he's dragged along for a few seconds.
Now I'm not saying that's what that woman's dog was doing, but I just wanted to point out that it's a possibility that some (or all) of you who have responded here don't seem to have considered. I don't think dogs should be allowed to mark wherever they want as often as they want, and it's possible that woman thought the same. If the dog really did want to pee and wasn't allowed, then I do think she has no right whatsoever owning a dog, but sometimes not all things are what they appear to be.

You see I do not agree with that either but please do not take offence please as I am not condemning you for it
When my Dog stops I do and there is times that he lifts his leg and nothing is coming out but I will still stop
I knew this dog wanted to pee because he was dribbling as he was walking along honest she just dragged him and she was walking to fast for the little thing, he was an old Dog to as I could see by his Face

Hiya gabs, I have been wondering about you too, have not seen you about for a day or two, are you ok? I have seen people doing that to their dogs too, and it is wrong, it is like they do not really bother what their dog wants because they are just an animal, I do not understand it either. But some people I just do not understand full stop. You are best not to confront anyone these days really, I think it is too dangerous now to say what you feel, you have to be very careful. Take care xxx

I am really sorry to hear that you have not been well and that you are going through a bad time and I am sending all of my positive get well thoughts to you to hopefully help you a little bit. I think sometimes we take our health for granted, but do not realise how much until something happens and we are ill and then we realise. The little princesses finger is now healing really quickly, but it is such a mess I am actually surprised that she did not end up with an infection in it, but I used sudacrem on it, brilliant stuff that is, heals anything, shame we cannot use it on you and make you better. She has been very mardy since she cut her finger, and everytime she falls over now she panics that she is bleeding, little duck!! xxx

That is infuriating. I was walking with someone and their dog once when, each time the dog would stop to sniff, not tinkle or the other but, just smell, the person would pull the dog along. They wouldn't do it when the dog would stop to relieve himself but, whenever he would stop to sniff. So, I asked them, "whose walk it was?" If they were walking on their own, it would have been their walk. But, the fact that they were walking the dog, it was then the dog's walk and he should get the freedom to sniff everything he wanted to. Since then, they let their dog sniff whatever and don't drag him away from picking up what I call his "PeeMail"! Get it! His PeeMail...like Email? LOL!

This kind of behavior irks me to NO end too Gabs. I would personally like to be the one to yank her from the potty by the neck and drag her along behind me . But then i would get into trouble myself .
You know we people always in a hurry to get some place and seldom take the time to stop and smell the roses along the way. Let alone allowing our companions the time they need. poor babies.

I would have felt like approaching her also and telling her to stop for a minute whilst her dog did what he had to do - after all, isn't that the reason she had him out?
It makes my blood boil when I see animals being mistreated; some people just don't deserve to have animals.

It would be very nice to be able to say something to these people, but you would, I'm sure, get a response like "mind your own {place expletive here} business".
Of course, the ASPCA is very busy with blatant and atrocious signs of abuse and neglect, so probably no help there, either.
We can only hope that this was an isolated incident. If not, these people should either not have pets at all, or at the very least, not include their dog in "quick errand runnings" - they sure were not doing him any favors!
