most of us are employees but not employer, i work for a German company , our department manager and I are Chinese , but i really don't know how to balance the relationship between us , because , if closer to him I feel that I don't work stable just think how to get close with him, and if I leave him too far , i feel that i don't have the safety sense, any time i will be fired ,
so,some one could tell me : i should just finishe the daily work don't colse the manager too much or , close him as possible as I can ???

I think it's alright to be close to your manager. But you need to limit the closeness to during after work hours. During work hours, you have to remember that this person is your superior and that you are being paid by the company to work and not to be close to the manager. It will be your work performance that will be evaluated by the employers, and not your closeness to the manager. If you do your work well, I don't think there will be any reason to fire you from your work. After work hours, you can keep the friendship with the manager, and no one can judge you for that. Good luck in your work!
