Yao Ming is a Chinese professional basketball player who plays for the Houston Rockets of the National Bascketball Association (NBA). He is currently the tallest player in the NBA, standing at 2.29m.
He started playing for the Shanghai Sharks while he was still a teenager and played on their senior team for 5 years in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), winning a championship in his final year. He entered the 2002 NBA draft, and after negotiating with the CBA and the Sharks to secure his release, he was selected by Houston as the first overall pick of the draft.
He has been selected to start for the Western Conference in the NBA-All Star Game in all six of his seasons, and has been named for All-NBA Team 3 times. However, the Rockets have not advanced past the first round of the playoffs since he has joined the team, and he has missed significant time due to injury in each of the past 3 seasons.
For the most incredible matches of him and for his personal life...I`m waiting from you;)

yao ming is a good offensive player althought he can also block in the defense..anyway he has a way to play the game that many people dont like (i dont lol)..he doesnt give the game a spirit and a nice game and he can freestyle or anyother thing that interacs the public.
in the other hand in the offense he never dunks..i think a NBA game without a dunk is like a football game wihout goals...boring...well anyway hes a good wepond for a team to win a game althought...another thing i dont understand is how he has fans ..u have koby briant doing all thoose cool moves..well anyway as isaid its a good member of a team to help the offense score points without problems!

Yeah, Yao isn't a dominant big man defensively, but he is an offensive juggernaut, and without him Houston can't beat Utah in the 1st round. This year with the year him and the Rockets were having could've of been the year that they finally made it past the first round. Without him it doesn't look to good. As far as incredible match-ups would be when his first season when he played Shaq. He got off to a great start, and we thought their would be a changing of the guard at the center position. However, Shaq wore Yao down physically, and then mentally by ducking on and around him. I like Yao, but it's always something with him. That height and size in basketball isn't all that good. Shawn Bradley retired after years of mediocrity with injuries at that height. At least Yao has had alot of individual success.

Yao Ming, is a good offensive player but to compete in the NBA as a center, he has to have good defense. I have seen Yao get dunked on by Nate Robinson from the New York Knicks and it was hilarious. He is soft in the middle and his stamina is not that great. Yao could be a great player and definitely dominant if he gets tougher on defense and address his stamina issues.
