Kind of Meat Needed?

Sometimes I will buy the meat to make several different kinds of meals that week. On Sunday, I purchased pork chops, ground beef, and a small steak to make some meals this week. Do you decide your meals after deciding what meat you will purchase or do you take meat out of the freezer? I used the steak in my soup, as enjoy steak soup on a cold day. It helps me feel warm and is a great comfort. The ground beef was used to make hamburgers, as needed a quick meal to eat while answering the telephone, which rang often on Tuesday. Today I'm having applesauce, pork chops, rolls and corn. I will just reheat what is left from lunch. Its hard to make meals for one person.

Before I make out my shopping list I will sit down and write out a menu for 2 weeks. I will figure out all lunches and dinners for those 2 weeks, then make my shopping list accordingly. It really helps to make out a menu because then your never trying to figure out what to cook last minute.

I use to do this when my family was home. Its quite hard to do just for myself. There are many classes to help people cooking for large families, young children, and teenagers, but meals for 1 really doesn't have a lot of ideas. I do make some meals for two people and freeze 1/2 of it. I'm very new to cooking for 1 person. Thanks for the reply.

We normally buy meat in bulk and freeze it so I can choose what ever I like to eat during the week not have to plan it around what I might have bought when doing the weekly shop. We dont eat a lot of red meat though mostly it is just chicken

I always buy the meat as a staple as hamburger meat, steaks, pork chops and chicken, the I will decide what I want to do with these meats, hamburger meat can be for hamburger, spaghetti, lasagna, hamburgers steaks, meat loaf, sheperd's pie, hash, macaroni, what ever I fancy the same with steak, could be fried, cut up for submarines curry, soap, anything again

I kind of plan my meals ahead of time, but more often will get the meat at a good price at the store and then try to figure out what to do with it along with what's in the pantry. I buy hamburger with good intentions sometimes for casseroles or whatever, but end up with hamburgers for something quick as well. You do some lovely cooking for yourself by the way, especially for one person.

Thank you and I'm trying hard to eat right. Now if I can stop myself from eating at the stove. Today I turned on the grill to medium low and kept typing, so I wasn't eating at the stove. I think this just might be the answer for some food. It won't work with pasta and sauce, but I don't eat them at the stove.
