Well all, I love auctions and go as often as we can afford to buy things. In the past we have bought a living room set which is a love seat and sofa, we've bought a lazy boy chair in the past, cars also in the past, many old collector coins, some great artwork for the walls by famous nature artists and various other things. Today I went and picked up the latest finds from a local auction I visit and bid online at. The site starts an auction online and sets a certain day and time to view items so you know exactly what the itme looks like before you bid if you sop desire. It is a Minnesota auction house so a link is useless to most here. Anyhow, I got a 47 pound bag of dog food. 2 wooden flower boxes, a nice lawn ornament of 2 woodpeckers on a tree stump, a squirrel lawn ornament and a bunny lawn ornament. It was all under $40 with the auction fee and taxes. Hey the huge bag of dog food is worth almost $40. So do you go to auctions at all? What is the last thing you found there? Arwe you addicted to auctions at all like I am? I am talking real life auctions not site unseen online auctions. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Now you got me.. You have talked about vegetable plantings, muffins, your sexy fave hat and your sweet brunette picture, which were interesting items, but now you are bringing out the big stuff.. You stole the stuff, you know that don't you.. That is the type of bargains that make my heart race faster.. There is nothing in the world that is as much fun, well, almost nothing, as an auction, a good old timey flea market or a good yard sale.. I am an addict to junk shops, flea markets, yard, garage and other types of sales.. My husband swears that I can spot a red sale tag a mile off, but I really can't, I can smell them a mile off though.. I have s sister-in-law who lives in Florida, she called the other day and told me she had found a milk glass punch bowl set with 12 milk glass cups at a yard sale and she bought them for me for $5.00.. Then the next day she found a milk glass fruit bowl for $5.00 and bought that for me.. Now that is an item that will be used for each and every holiday and cherished.. But as far as auctions, they can't be beat, you might not find something everytime, but you will more often than not.. Your yard will be the envy of the neighborhood.. Happy hunting and the very best of luck to you..

Well, get used to me friend. I start discussions on whatever is on my mind or what happens to me whenever I feel like it. Sometimes I'll go a week without a discussion started. Then sometimes I'll start 10 or more in one day. I take a lot of photos as well for my discussions. I take my camera almost everywhere I go just in case I see something that would make a good discussion. My wife always hits the end cap aisles at Target fopr the clearance items. She is a coupon shopper to the end as well. We try to save whatever we can each and everytime we shop for anything and everything. That's why I like auctions so much. We used to hit a few differwent flea markets as well but now they are all a long drive from the house and the gas isn't worth it most times now days. Some hgreat deals there you described as well. GRATS! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am also an avid coupon clipper, I like to try and never pay full price, it isn't because I am cheap, because I am not, I pay full price when I have to, but it is the thrill of the victory.. It is a trophy that you have won by your wits and good sense.. I could buy new, unused full price items, although not many of them, but I prefer to keep a few of my pennies for such foolishness as gas, milk and groceries and I love to find a great bargain, it is in my blood.. I believe that I inherited this trait (or gift) from my mom, she raised 8 younger children after my dad passed away and she raised us on less that 100.00 a month, that was in 1963.. She stretched every penny she got her hands on.. She fed, clothed, schooled and kept a roof over our heads and I am sure that she went without sometimes.. She never showed it if she did, but she taught me the value of a dollar and I am thankful that she did.. But even if I were a millionaire, I would find my bargains, maybe more of them but bargains just the same.. Keep hunting and have a great evening, Donna

I love auctions they can be so much fun. My hubby and I bought a couple of vehicles from auctions. Its also fun to go to house auctions. I once bought 2 electric weed wrackers for $1, that was for both of them. I like the online auctions too like ebay, and bidz. They are alot of fun and you can get some great deals.

We use to go to auctions every week. We've got some great buys at auctions. We bought a secretary, china cabinet, baker's rack, grill, painting, nic nacs, books, all sorts of stuff. We have ran out of space so we don't go much anymore. Plus my hubby spent waaayy more for that painting than its worth. He got into a bidding war with another guy and he won...(or lost if you ask me). Since hubby can't control his male ego we can't go.

Hi Grandpa Bob Before I get to the subject at hand, do you know that now your avatar, that goes along with the in box notification, is of some sort of greenery? It looks like an outdoor scene, and it's all green, but I can't enlarge it, so can't take a better look. Everyone of your discussions that I've received notifications for today, have this avatar. Those are some great items you've picked up. I've only ever been to one auction, and it was a quilt auction, with a professional auctioneer. Very entertaining to watch, but the quilts were all handmade, and quite expensive, so I just observed. Take care.

The green guy that is the standard default avatar here? Got your PM as well. Thanks. I've seen a lot of home made things like that sell for a small fortune even at auctions. Not me though. I go to auctions for bargains. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

No, not the green guy, that's become the standard here, for the most part, but the one I mentioned to you in the PM. All of your discussions dated the 10th, in my in box, have this other person's avatar, and as I mentioned to you, I came across it by accident in a discussion, and recognized it as the one that's shown up in my in box, instead of your avatar. The quilts that were auctioned were so beautiful, but I too would be a bargain hunter, as I just can't afford to be that extravagent.

Yep, I'm convinced this is the same auction that I used to go to. We got prints from those artists too. Great buys! Gosh, I can't even remember some of the things we were able to pick up there, but I got some good buys for sure. A couple of Bunn coffee makers (the $100 model) for next to nothing (kept one as a spare and sold one on eBay). One lot had boxes and boxes of 3x9 envelopes and I wanted a box or two (I was mailing Avon catalogs to customers at the time), but they sold the LOT of them for less than $20. One box costs more than that at the office supply store! I used a couple boxes myself, sold a few to online friends and still have several boxes left in my storage unit. I know we got lawn/garden equipment, a computer desk, and lots of various glassware, candy dishes and such. I sold several pieces of that on eBay too. I think I paid $10 or less for a lot just to get an answering machine that I wanted to give to a friend. Even with giving her that, there were several other items in the lot that I was able to sell that netted me more than double what I paid. I miss that place for sure (but eBay isn't much fun anymore with all the rate/rule changes anyway).

Art work - Done by a well known MN nature painter
Here's a photo of one of my paintings we got at an auction. This was done by an artist from here that sells a lot of these for high prices. I think his name is Koubal or something like that anyhow. This is a numbered series drawing and we paid $40 for it at an auction. But the frame alone is worth that at least. Anyhow I've never used EBay. I got a lot of Avon bottles at an auction. Most still had the perfume/cologne in them. I researched the internet and found EBay had a lot going for anywhere from $5 to $20 a bottle. Instead of listing them myself I gave them to my daughter so she could save them. They were all the car bottles and other things like that. Very good deals you made and got I'd say. Thanks for the response as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

My husband is an auction nut. When we were setting up housekeeping, we bought a bedroom set, dining room set rocking chair and mantle clock at an auction. Since then, now that my husband is retired, I guess you could say his work is attending auctions. It's getting warmer now and the auctioneers are again getting busy. He will probably be gone every Saturday and a few days a week looking for bargains. He has a few items that he actually collects and then also buys whatever he finds interesting. I love them, too, but standing is hard for me now and it requires a lot of that unless you can find one indoors. Most of ours here are farm and house sales.

I am relectant to go to one because I am afaraid that it will become a habit for me and I ll get addicted. I will end up buying a list of useless items which i think that they are a bargain but that i will never make use of.

I dont go to auctions at all & to be honest I am not aware of any around her. I would be interested in local online auctions, but I dont think that is available in my are. Actually, it is a very good idea for someone to set up a business online, organising auctions. My brother sells items on ebay. He goes to garage sales & buys items for say, 50c, that he believes are worth something, & then sells it on Ebay for say, $15.00 or more. I wish I had the knowledge to do this.

I have not been to a live auction for years. I used to go with my mom and my dad when I was younger. I loved to hear the guy auction things off. It sounds so neat that they can talk that fast and know when bids are made and who wins them.

We have a huge flea market in Hinckley MN next to the casino and theres always great buys there. But it is almost 80 miles away and the cost of gas says it's not feasable for me to drive there in case I don't buy a thing. Cuz I'd end up at the casino gambling. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I do ebay and half.com. I really enjoy half.com because you just list your books and wait for them to sell. When they sell, that's when you pay half.com their percentage. No paying anything upfront. The rest is deposited right into your bank account. Low hassle. One time I bought a book for one dollar and sold it for somewhere around thirty dollars. Not gonna get rich, but I really enjoy it. I used to coupons, too. But, lately I just don't have the time. I would love to go to an auction, but have never been. Once, I heard that a storage facility was having an auction, I guess of unpaid storage bins, but I missed the date. How do you find out about local auctions?
