Hello There,
I have a major gripe and need to get it out in the open, it's really burring me up inside.
Check this out...
My wife recently got a new job at a resturant and she absolutly loved it untill a week later they hired on a new manager. Now this "manager" has only had fast food experence and cannot handle things when they get busy. She starts ragging on my wife and taking her problems out on my wife.
First off this is not how a manager should act. My wife is a very hard and proud worker. Her work qualities are excellent.
Here's the problem that really gets me...
My wife talked with her boss to let him know of the problems she has been having at work with the manager. Well her boss told her that the manager has made some complaints against my wife as well.
Now this guy (the boss) has 2 restaurants. I recently started working part-time for him at his other restaurant.
My wifes manager told her boss that since I was hired on, my wifes work quality has gone down.
WE DONT EVEN WORK IN THE SAME RESTAURANT!
My wifes work quality may have gone down a little but it's from the stress that her manager is putting her through by not being a good manager (she has no right to be a manager if you ask me). This manager is constantly targeting out my wife for some reason or another (I think she may be jealous because my wife is a better worker than her).
When I heard this news, I absolutly lost it. If this so called manager thinks that me working in a completly different restaurant has anything to do with my wifes work quality she's just plain stupid in my opinion.
Well because of all this, I decided that if my working part time in the bosses OTHER restaurant, then I will remove myself as to not put my wifes job in jepordy, so I quit.
I dont know where I am going with this post really, I just really really needed to vent about this and would LOVE to hear other comments about this.
I know my wife is a great worker and does more than just doing her job. She has completly turned this restaurant around by cleaning it up (it was a nasty mess when she started there) and bringing in new customers that have followed her from other restaurants. What this so called manager is trying to do to her is absolutly rediculious.
What would you do in this situation?
Would you continue to work with someone that is constantly trying to sabotage your job?
Would you work for a boss that is taking the side of a the manager because he "likes" her?
My wife has more experence than this manager in restaurants. This so called manager has only worked fast foods where my wife has worked in quality restaurants. The only reason my wife isnt the manager is because she is younger (which isnt fair either).
Thanks for reading this. Please reply to this is you make sense out of it. This is more of a way for me to get this off my chest than anything. I really needed to vent this, I've already given up my job in order to not jepordize my wifes job (which is complete BULL) but it's still building up inside me. HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I've worked in restaurants most of my life. It sounds like this manager feels threatened by your wife. Your wife obviously knows what fine dining is all about and the manager is a fast food expert. Two totally different classes of quisine. It's almost impossible to befriend this kind of person because they feel they are always right. The only advice I can give you and your wife is to be on the look out for another position. It's unfortunate but you shouldn't stay where the stress is harmful.

I totally agree with you here. Thats why I removed myself from the other restaurant. I wont have anything to do with this type of power trip.
My wife is really upset about it of course, she loved working there untill this lady showed up. She's going to start looking for a new job as well.
Thanks for your reply and listening to my gripe :)
