What to do with unrequited love?

I'm a fan of unrequited loves in movies, books etc. And usually, such love stories have "sad" endings. I was just wondering, how do people deal with unrequited love in real life? Is it even real love in the first place?

LOL Hell I don't think love is real period... I hate love stories.. weather.. they have a sad or happy ending.
