April 20th is coming soon. Are you celebrating 420 this year? What are you doing? Are you going anywhere? Will you be celebrating alone? Will you be celebrating with friends? Will you be attending a rally?
As far as I know, I'm having a friend over to my house on the 19th, and we will bake some very special brownies. He will be making the oil ahead of time. I've never tried special brownies before, and I'm hoping to like them. They'll be the most expensive chocolate brownies I've ever had, that's for sure! LMAO! We figure we can eat the brownies, and they'll still be affecting us after midnight, which will be officially 420.

Yup, certainly will! And it's my 12th wedding anniversary. People are always so tickled that our anniversary is 420. It wasn't planned that way, of course. I love special brownies, CanadaGal, I'm sure you will too. Very nice body thing, trust me, you'll feel it.

I've heard that, about the whole body experience thing. I've read it takes up to an hour to start taking effect, and that you continue to feel yourself getting more and more affected until you feel you can't possibly go any further... and then you do! lmao!
420 wedding anniversary? How neat! I didn't even know what "420" was until after meeting the sausage man, so had I been a friend of yours years ago, the date wouldn't have phased me. lol.

It was a very different feeling to me, although I cannot explain it. I need to try the brownies again sometime and compare and note the differences. I won't overdo it next time though. lol.

If something comes up, and you make it to Canada next weekend, be sure to stop by my place, and I'll share my brownies. You're worth sharing my chocolate treats with.

Here's what wikipedia has to say about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/420_(cannabis_culture)
I thought it was a world wide thing, but according to wikipedia, it is a North American thing.

lol i smoked since i was 14 till i got pregnant with my first baby, and now i can't justify smoking.. i feel like a bad mommy. lol i know i wouldnt be.. but also i know i started because my thought process was that if my parents smoke, then it must not be SO bad, cause my parents wouldnt do anything bad.. they are good enough people.. So i dont want my kids to smoke till they are at least done school.. if they really need to. . Anyways i'd never heard the term 420 before i moved to ontario. lol we never said that in NS. We only had canibus day.. on canada day. lol a BIG field in the middle of the city where EVERYONE went to smoke. and the tourists walked by sniffing and scratching their heads. lol.
I have never eaten special brownies either.. hope you enjoy them ;)

Hahahha.. canibus/canada day! If I didn't have family activity stuff going on each July 1st, I might like to join in on that kind of celebration. Sounds like a blast!
I've added a pic of the flag you may have flown that day.

I bet the friend you're making the oil for is an even better friend. It's a hunch I have.
As for the letter, yes, I saw that on your blog when I went looking for history of 420 information for P1kef1sh.

I will be working at the flea market with my business, but i can drink some coors light while im there, and smoke in the morning and at night when i get home. I have never tried special brownies either. I want to try them but never had the time or money. My mom one time sprinkled my spegettie with buds and i ate like 5 bowls of it.

I have never had much problem with other people using it, but I used to have the mindset that I didn't want it in my house until it was legalized. I'm taking a different stance now, but am not much of an activist.

I don't consider myself to be a "420 lover". I tried it a handful of times in my youth, and only since last November have I been sharing some smokes with a friend, maybe 3 or 4 times a month. After next weekend, I should have an idea of whether or not I'm a special brownie lover though.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh - don't tell anyone, but I got my 420 brownies in the mail the other day. I'm keeping them in the fridge until the big day. My girlfriend 'back home' makes THE most delicious brownies on a regular basis and ships some to me from the time for 'medicinal' purposes! LOL So yeah, I'll be celebrating and burning the crumbs in my bong! ROFL
See - I've got the giggles already just thinking about it! LOL
Got any munchies. I have a sudden craving for munchies........here chippy, chippy, here chippy....................LOL

Oooohhhh... I didn't think about munchies. It would be a BAD thing to have more brownies, as tempting as it may seem at the time. He tends to like doritos and had a lot of "Fruit Creme" cookies by Peak Freans lately. But there was one time I had leftover kfc when he was over, and OMG! It was the BEST chicken EVAH! Maybe I'll splurge and order in KFC for dinner on the Saturday. Or better yet... send him out to pick it up before we have the brownies. lmao.

But dry mouth - oh my I hear you there. My solution is 'Foot Long' fruit snacks and Sunny D! No kidding. The combination works for my dry mouth and I don't add any weight. Or I'm just weird. I'm not stoned enough yet to tell. It's still early in the weekend! LOL

I might still have all 3 of my sons with me next weekend, so I won't be able to stay stoned all day on 420... it's more about starting in on it the night before, and likely staying up as late as I can with my friend.

Gotta smoke while ya cook the brownies, with some good tunes on. When the brownies are done and cooling off, get out the Cheech and Chong movies. Up in Smoke, Next Movie, Nice Dreams, and Still Smokin. I usually go to the store (its very close by, because ya know I had to have a sample brownie first) to get my drinks and munchies. By the time I get back with my cart load of way too much stuff, ITS ON!!!Brownies, movies, munchies, OH YEAH!!!!
Do you do the 420 at 4:20AM & PM too? I used to have the first batch of brownies done so we could start in the AM and eat them all day, then get out the really good stuff for smokin at 4:20PM, but now that I have a child, I have to get a babysitter and tone things down a bit. But my hubby and I still try to make a day of it. It's funny though, friends I haven't seen for several months, ALWAYS show up on 420, I guess it's the........brownie smell?? #:)

This will be my first year celebrating 420, and both mine and my friends' first time having brownies. I will get the munchies ahead of time during the week.. but your idea sounds fun, walking to and from the store. lol! There is a variety store not even a 10 minute walk from my place, but I think it's best I stay indoors (I'm having awful visions of it hitting really hard, and then running into other parents from my boys' school).
I might still have my 3 sons here all weekend, so I won't be able to do the all day thing, but Saturday night into Sunday morning will be a blast! Maybe someday I can do the 4:20am and 4:20pm thing. That sounds like fun!

I hadn't known about "420" until just over a year ago when I heard about it through Myrrdin.
Hmmm... you're the 2nd person in this thread to say the brownies weren't all that. I know they'll be made properly and at a high potency, so I'll have to report back after and share my experience with them.

I thought this whole 420 thing was an american stoner tradition only.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to celebrate since I was 16.
But I have had those "special brownies" before and they aren't as good as people think they are unless you puff puff give before eating them.

It's possible the brownies you tried weren't prepared correctly. Some people think that all you need to do is grind up the buds, and then cook them in the brownies... but that isn't the case. You have to make cannaoil or cannabutter first to add to the recipe.
Anyone I've asked who has tried them, explain the results to be similar... a long lasting high that takes about an hour to start to hit... and a full body high which is very different from a smoking one (apparently).

Well, I made these brownies a while ago experimentally with some old, not so potent stuff without too much bud in it so I was very generous adding to the brownie mix. I just baked the brownies as you normally would. I did not use any oil as I had no idea how to make that. And they worked all right.
All of us ate a fairly normal sized brownie each, maybe 3" square. Welll.............we were still stoned the next day. In fact, I woke up through the night really dizzy, a few times. Yes, it keeps on working and adding to the effect. So be forewarned, yes, it does last a long time, but does take around an hour to work. So just take a small amount, because if you get impatient and eat more, you won't know the effect until much later and by then it is too late. You just gotta ride it out. It will wear off eventually. No harm, no foul.
But, yes, you will still have all the usual effects, dry mouth, and munchies. lol.
Smoking works faster and you can titrate the dosage more easily as you go along.
By all means, it is an experience I think everyone should try though. Life is about living and enjoying and experiencing new things.
Yes, I will be celebrating on April 20th in some way now that I know about it. I didn't know what it meant for sure until now. But I think I am going to go the activist route somewhat and see if I can find some local demonstration to go to, too. Anybody know what's here in Ontario, Canada? I guess they will be really celebrating it in B.C. In a big way. I have also been emailing the gov't, but will also make a point of doing it on 420, too, now that I know the date itself.

From what I gather, there is almost always at least 2 major demonstrations in Ontario for 420... one at the Provincial Legislature building in Toronto, and the other somewhere on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. I don't know if any of the smaller cities do much, and the only thing I can think of would be to check out facebook groups for your area.
I'm in London, Ontario, and I know that last year there was a group scheduled to meet in Victoria Park downtown on 420 at 4:20pm. I don't know if anything happened though.
As for the brownies, I'm really looking forward to trying them out!

Thanks CanadaGal, I may be able to make it to TO as it is only 2 hrs from me. I am only 1/2 hr N of Barrie.
I also have relatives in London, but don't get out that way often to see them. However, I am hoping to make a trip to Dutton this July for a 2 day event. It is a business trip, but after hours, I can do what I want. Maybe we could get together and have another 420 celebration. lol. Sharing is always nice with new friends.

I have never tried brownies but have heard of them. I celebrate 420 several times aweek. I find comsuming is far better than smoking and experimented different ways of consuming. I find the high to be like this first high after not being high for several days. The starting times vary depending on your body weight and stomach content. I have melted chocolate and mix it in then reharden. I have mixed it in a smoothie. If anyone tells you you have to cook it they just don't know. No you don't.

420 comes twice a day actually.
I was under the impression that by cooking it, it helps to release more of the THC... are you saying that's not the case?
