How to install ubuntu with xp

During the installation process Ubuntu will ask where you wish to install it and which partitions you wish to use. I suspect that you simply chose the wrong option of using the whole hard drive, which will prompt Ubuntu to erase all Windows and repartition accordingly. If you choose manual partitioning then the problem will not repeat itself.

You did not install the system properly.You should have chosen manual partitioning and then selected an empty partition.After that you should have installed ubuntu on that partition only. You can also use wubi to install ubuntu.

Since this post is 3 weeks old have you successfully installed the two?

i hav another idea install virtual pc onto ur computer after installing UBUNTU and in that virtual pc install XP and all the softwares like MS OFFICE etc... that linux does not suport....

for this situation, you can install a virtual machine in your OS, whatever Windows or Ubuntu. Now i'm using the VirtualBox, you can search this software on internet.

Just a suggestion y not user VMWare. install it in your PC running Winxp.

Since I was afraid that what happened to you would have happened to me, I used Wubi (http://wubi-installer.org/) to install Ubuntu. Wubi installs Ubuntu in your pc like a file. If you want to move it to a real partition, there are also instructions in the site that you could follow.
