Tragedy Overload

While I dearly love my friends on Mylot, there are a few that I have had to turn the alert off for. I get bombarded all the time with the most tragic stories imaginable and I can feel what it is doing to my mental and physical health.
I am extremely sensitive and this is why I do not watch the news. The other day, I read a story on Mylot about a girl being beat up by six other girls for what she said on Myspace. When I clicked to see the news article, they actually had footage of the beating and it made me cry.
So if I do not respond to your discussions, it is not that I have deleted you or are upset with you, it's just that I can not handle all of that tragedy.

Rozie that story made me cry also. I am glad that the girls who set the one girl up are all being charged as adults. I am glad of that.
I do not think you cried because you are overly sensitive it is because it is a very tragic story. I am ashamed to call myself a girl of "we all act like that."

It was just evil. You would think at some point some body would have felt for the girl. These girls and those two guys need serious help if they want to be a part of normal society. Animalistic is the best wat to describe it. It is one of those stories that I just can't shake.
Girls always fight over being jealous or whatever, but it should never come to this. I know that girls have been killed for less than this before. It's just that this time there were so many in agreement and there was the visual aspect of it. No jury in the world will have a dry eye after seeing that video. It seems like an open and shut case.

Rozie, I sure understand how you feel. I know I've been guilty of posting some sad and tragic stories here but it seems that's about all you see or hear on the news. I don't blame you for choosing not to watch the news. There are times when I'm on here and just want to read and write about light-hearted and happy things so I just skip over the heavy and tragic posts for a couple hours or whatever. Like you, I'm not ignoring my friends who posted them, I'm just taking a little break from the sadness and heartbreak.

I understand and it OK. That story made me so angry because this poor girl couldn't defend herself. And, it was done by people she once considered her friends. I've seen the video and I completely understand how you feel. I wish they would stop showing that video over and over on the TV because it bothers me, too.

Totally understand Rozie. I read a lot of news on here too and comment on some of them but not all especially the ones that involve children. It is heartbreaking reading them as well.
