" A diet of baked beans helped Neil King to lose 140 pounds in nine months. In fact, since June 2007, he's eaten more than half a ton of them, about 1,500 cans." http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,350429,00.html That is a lot of baked beans! I can't believe this guy lost a bit of weight. I can't even imagine how much sodium he ate over that time.

There are low salt baked beans available. I bet he had a lot of bowel "problems"....although the article says he didn't! Although baked beans are healthy, this is an unbalanced diet.

That is sick. he probably lost the weight because all the fiber he ate made everything just GO through his body like crazy. lol i bet he stank. or stinks if he's still eating all that much beans. WHAT would possess someone to eat just baens. gross. they dont even taste good.

Wow. I had never heard of this before. Beans is a protein and I would have never dreamed that you could lose weight by eating them. I guess we have to eat them in moderation to though and get some exercise. I would feel so bloated and gassy if I ate that much of them, LOL.

Wow, don't know if I can handle eating that much baked beans. As for the sodium, he could have easily eliminated that by making his own..

I always thought baked beans were high in calories. Any recipe or can of them I have looked at has a lot of sugar in them. Besides all the sodium. I didn't read the article yet...I suppose I should have first read more about it..lol I will go read it now. I could eat baked beans if it will help me lose weight....a lot of beans. Blessed be, Mari

Wow! That sure IS a lot of baked beans! I like baked beans and my mom absolutely LOVES them but I don't think I'd dare to eat nothing but for any amount of time. Of course, since they make me "go" maybe I would lose weight if I tried it. Annie

I read that and I was thinking he must of had alot of gas lol. I think it was 6 cans a day and he did eat them with rice and something else. I'd get tired of eating them though. I'd rather eat all fruit or something.

As far as I know, increasing your fiber (of which BEANS has a great deal) helps one lose weight. Also, with this increase in beans in his diet, he was most likely cutting out things he would normally eat for protein which had more fat (such as meats and dairy products). Another good way to lose weight is to drink lots of extra water. Even with water weight gain, you will still lose more fat.

I am agree with you. I used to lose weight by eating some food that the doctors asked me. But it seemed that there was no action! Now I believe that sports is the important way for losing weight.

Wow, I don't think I could do that either.
