Can you think of historical crises in recent memory that might require a nation to rethink its foundational claims? For example, did the events of 9-11 cause Americans to reconsider who we are, what we stand for and what kinds of things we say about who we might be?

A month ago, the president of the Philippines was accused of granting special favors to certain contractor companies - interpretation: he was corrupt and he's using his position to make himself filthy rich on the expense of providing equal opportunity in a market that traditionally does not grant it.
Because of this, foreign aide for our country will be reduced this year because "corruption is too entrenched" in our government.
The Philippine history boasts of courage to fight for centuries for freedom. And yet we are enslaved by politicians who do not govern.
Thanks for the response on my discussion!
