Have a look at the products in most shops and stores around the world and you will see a “made in china” tag. What does this mean?
It means that for all intents and purposes China together with middle eastern countries hold all the power in the world.
Whether we like it or not these areas could destroy economies world wide at a whim.
Gone is all the power the west used to hold. Because of their greed for profit companies looked for manufacturers who could make their product cheaper and therefore increase profits. They found this in many countries in asia but, in general, have settled on china as the best. . In turn china has met all the demands for production placed on it by the west.
Various western governments have caved in to the big companies on this by reducing tariffs on imports with this in turn making the imported product cheaper causing unemployment and loss of job skills in their own countries.
What would happen if the chinese suddenly stopped exports to the world?.
What would happen if middle eastern countries turned off the oil tap?
Who holds the REAL power in world affairs?.

Well, it wasn't that long ago that all the labels said "Made in Japan". Now a lot of those things are called collectibles and the labels say "Made in China" instead. We survived the first time and we'll probably survive this time too.
Still, I worry about the failure of so many quality American manufacturers and the outsourcing of work. Even when the quality is superior American companies can't pay a living wage for American labor and that's the bottom line. Look at what happened to Levi Strauss when they tried to continue as a "Made in America" company. And it happened even before the Asian companies started importing. Americans bought tons of Limoges china from France while Castleton went down the drain. They bought Belleek from Ireland while Ott & Brewer and Willets collapsed. Now, it's generally acknowledged that the American product was superior but you can only find it in antiques shops.
Although I honestly believe that good old Yankee ingenuity will survive and always put this country in the forefront no matter how much gets imported, I'd like to see some change before names like like "Lenox" and "Mackenzie Childs" become just labels on antiques.
Maybe Americans just need to step up and support American companies. It's not always practical but sometimes you really do just get what you pay for and paying a little more for a well made American product will prove a better buy in the long run. I'm by no means saying here that all of the stuff coming out of China is crap but a some of it certainly is.

hmm..i think japanese products are really good quality. They always pay a lot of attention to detail, but they're also not cheap. On the other hand for chinese products you get all kinds of crazy stuff, some are really good quality but other stuff is complete crap. It's kind of wasteful...like we had a fan the whole thing was functioning..but instead of using some metal part, it was made out of plastic and it eventually snapped. The whole motor was running fine but this little broken thing meant that we had to dump the entire fan. Germany makes good electronics...really haven't seen American stuff in australia though for ages

Being a Pakistani and i am happy for China. China's product are also available all over the Pakistan. And they are really of good quality and very cheap. Most of Pakistanies buy chinese products specially in electronics.
So no one should worry about China. Because this is a race of quality. He will win who is the best.
