I learned the answer in our Biology class. This is quite intriguing at first right? But once you know the answer, you'll be glad you did. :) ANATOMICALLY SPEAKING... The coronal cut of the heart, meaning dividing it from the posterior[back] and anterior[front], you can form a heart shape. MORPHOLOGICALLY SPEAKING... If you'll trace the veins and arteries surrounding the heart, you can form a heart shape there. That's it. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO MR. JOSE TOLENTINO OLIVAR FOR CONTRIBUTING THIS TO OUR CLASS. :)

The shape of the heart is something I have wondered about, but never took the time to find out, so I want to thank you for explaining it to us. I found it very interesting; thanks to Mr Jose Tolentino Olivar as well!

@ karenfeliz.. maybe you are talking about the size of the heart and not the shape.. Our heart is as big as our fist. :)

Really? I always thought it was shaped like, as Clive Owen so eloquently put it in Closer, "a fist wrapped in blood." I guess it's just one of those exaggerations Hollywood makes then. Thanks for the info! :)

Oh really. I did not know this either until now. I always wandered how they considered it to be a heart also because it actually does not look like one by just looking at it. I will have to look into that more. I think that is very neat.

yes, it really does not look like one and the mind behind that idea must be very brilliant. I just feel lucky to know such idea behind the heart shape of the heart. :)
