Yes. there's no catch in my title. It's true. Do you know a person who kill people to prevent an earthquake from happening? Well Herbert Mullin is.
I am answering an online exam on how well I know some serial killers. Actually I only remember Jack the Ripper but I got a 40% score in that exam. [Kinda good in guessing huh? :))] In this case, Herbert Mullin of California, kills people to prevent their country from having an earthquake. This may sound funny at first but yeah, its true.
Here are some facts about HERBERT MULLIN that I got from the net. ;)
* Born on April 18, 1947 [the 41st anniversary of the San Fransico earthquake of 1906 in Salinas, California]
* Herbert was voted as the "Most Likely to Succeed" in his high school class.
* "Herb, I want you to kill me somebody." telephatically said to Herbert by his father.
* During his trial Mullin gave rambling discussions of his earthquake theory, and a rationale of his crimes: "A rock doesn't make a decision while it's falling, it just falls."
* The jury decided that he was sane, and found him guilty on 10 counts of murder.
* He currently resides at Mule Creek State Prison in California.
* Herb believed that the deaths during the Vietnam war worked as sacrifices that kept California from sliding into the ocean during a cataclysmic earthquake.
Weird yes, but it's also a new knowledge to know that there's an existing case like this.
Imagine the unthinkable. It really happened.

Wow, I admit at this time of night I can't exercise my brain enough to formulate a theory that could even vaguely support his rationale , guess not something to do with gravitational pull. Hence, I am quite stupefied that the jury decided he is sane.I am off to find what astounding theory he used behind it that made him sound sane before the jury.

yeah wingsy, at some cases or maybe most cases, brilliant minds are behind the most brutal crimes. It's a sad truth.

No doubt, he is insane, and a dangerous one. Just read in Wikipedia (thank you for starting this discussion, I'm wiser again), hewas sentenced to life imprisonment and will be eligible for parole in 2025, when he will be 78. Hopefully he doesn't live until that day!

Well to be honest nothing concerning the human mind and human behavior surprises me anymore! From cults believing that alien civilizations were riding the tail of Halley's Comet and then killed themselves in preparation of their arrival; to Bundy receiving instructions to kill people from a neighbors dog..... (I think it was Bundy); there will be many more to come for sure.

yes, Bundy is another. He kills young women but I don't know that he got the killer instinct from dogs.. I'll check on that. :)

Ohh this looks very strange and odd to me , but yeah i have read such kind of cases in the news papers a lot of times. They do perform some kind of prayers and they kill people in order to save the town or the village they live in. These sounds very premature to me but the world is progressing beyond a best scientific and practical era and i totally cannot believe that there are this kind of people who still exist.
