Where has it gone?

Not so long ago I was proud to live in England. We live in a small northern town which had a thriving community, a local market, cosy pubs, a butchers, bakers etc. People said hello as you passed them in the street. Sounds idilic doesn't it. So what happened? The markets gone, the pubs are closed, we have lots of charity shops but can't buy a loaf of bread except from the supermarket. No one speaks to anyone anymore, everyone is wary and there is no trust, litter fills the streets and the traffic is awful. Yet still the council allow the building of more houses on what were fields and the town fills and fills. Am I looking at the past through rose tinted glasses or is this the future of our beloved homeland?

I think that is happening everywhere. People are just so closed off and keep to themselves. Until people start caring again, nothing will happen to change this trend.
