I am not a football fan at all, and some people would say that is almost as unAustralian as not eating vegemite. LOL
When our son first went overseas I used to send him a text message every week with the results of how his team went but then he told me not to send one unless they won. I accepted that, except for the finals when he wanted who was playing who etc. In total he was away for the majority of 6 football seasons and in that time I have sent him a text message when his team won as well as the finals of course.
However, here I have to say that I didn't send him many messages at all. His team? Carlton.
Off the Geelong Cats of course. We have friends who now live in Qld, having lived in Geelong for many years. The parents now follow Brisbane Bears but the son and one daughter are still fans of the Cats, so life does become interesting when they play each other.

Oh another Carlton fan Bel. Well, our son is still home for another couple of weeks at least and so doesn't need text messages from me when his team has won this year. He is rapt, but still thinks it will be a couple of years before they are right back to the top again. What does your husband think?
Thanks very much for giving me best response Bel. :)

Hahaha...fishing for someone in particular BM...or just coinceidence... but the Cats can do it if they bump up on the heart factor...heart is there every week for 4 quarters, not just 1,2 or 3. They have shown that they can play like a team possessed, but now need to prove theyt are capable of maintaining that level as a bottom line and building on that!

I don't follow aerial ping pong as I was raised in NSW.
I much prefer Rugby League as it is real sport.

I am actually a tried and try Rugby League fan having been raised and lived in Queensland for the past 40years! Since moving to Tassie a year ago nobody seems to have any idea that there is another football code other than AFL, so I am a bit peeved. A cousin of mine plays for Panthers in Sydney so I watch Fox sports just so I can keep up with the game. That must be one of Tassies only faults I think...
