Seniors Exercise Program
The older we get the more important it is to incorporate exercise into our daily routine. This is necessary to maintain cardiovascular health and maintain muscle mass. If you're over 40, you might want to take it easy at first, then do more repetitions as you become more proficient and build stamina.
Warning: It may be too strenuous for some.
Always consult your doctor before starting any exercise program!
SCROLL DOWN.............
NOW SCROLL UP..
That's enough for the first day. Great job.
Have a glass of wine.
So do you participate in a daily exercise regimen?

Walking is good...now that spring is here and winter is gone. I love to walk whenever I can. I'll be getting a lot of exercise in the next few months with planting my garden and weeding.

I used to walk wherever I went when I lived in California. In fact, I used to walk about 4 miles home from work every night, but since I've moved to Phoenix, I don't feel as safe in doing so, besides its usually too hot.

Seniors Exercise Program at 40?
You have to be kidding me...
I never did believe in exercise... I am too lazy for that.
My formula is to eat the right food... and don't eat more that what my body need.
I don't eat because it is lunch time or diner time. I only eat when I am hungry.
If you have any kind of physical job which requires you to be on your legs 8 hours a day... that should be all the exercise you need... providing you don't over eat.
The way I see it... is that it is a lot easier to eat less... than having to exercise for hours in order to burn it off. You also save money on food... save money on gym equipment... and have more time to enjoy yourself. Does that make sense?

Thank you, thank you. I am on my feet for 8 hours a day as you know, so I guess that means I won't have to exercise. I'm chasing after customers and shoes all day long and I do eat less because I'm not sitting at home doing nothing. In fact today, I think all I've had is 2 pieces of toast and a milkshake. Perhaps not the perfect diet, but less than I would have had if I'd been at home.

I do more than that. I walk everyday, and I do leg lifts. I also lift weights three times a week. That is the extent of my exercise program. That does not count my running down stairs to do laundry, changing the bed, sweeping or vaccuming the floor, or doing the dishes.
But this exercise you had us do, anyone can do it.

Well you've sure got one up on me, except for chasing after shoes all day, I don't get any exercise at all.

hahaha good one.
The only exercise I do is chasing after my son and that's about it. I have yet to start up my walking but will now that the weather is warming up.

I'm sure your son being little keeps you pretty active. I know when mine were small I put on alot of miles in a day.

That was a nice one Kbourgerie, One has to take it seriously afger 40 like you said. I also belong to the set and I keep myself busy all the time. I keep moving and wouldn't let my metabolism slow down. But even then I am slowing down a bit and not flexible as I was before.
I can tell you for sure that I don't look my age and I have many friends telling me that. I am also healthy in that respect, no diseases so far, touch wood.
All the best

People used to tell me I don't look my age, but they don't say that anymore. LOL. I wish they did. I hate getting older.

Hey now thats an exercise program I can really get into lol that was just right for the first day. I am exercising but just my fingers one two one two, make a typo and backtrack, three four, delete and start over. I used to tease my husband by saying as I raised each finger and lowered it, exercise ,exercise, got to have my exercise.. I wish I could get really motivated for that thirty minutes they say you should exercise instead I just sit here and type.

Well think of it this way Hatley, surely we must burn a few calories, just thinking and we sure do plenty of that on this site.

yep you got it that is as much exercise that I get in in any given day. But seriously, I do need to exercise because I am always in pain. The dampness in the house and the weather outside just kills me.

I do exercise in a fashion, I walk the kids to school and back everday and then when I get back from taking them in a morning I sometimes put music on for me and my daughter and we have a dancing session. That is good fun!! I also do leg raises and sit ups in an evening once the kids are in bed. I do not do it all the time but I do try to do it as often as I can.

You are making your exercise fun and its easier to do when you do it in a fashion such as you do. Your daughter probably looks forward to your time together.

I have been trying to walk at least 30-45 minutes daily.
Sometimes I get lazy and don't. I am hoping with the weather getting better, I will stay on track.
Have a great day!

Ah ah. Nice one Kbourgerie.
My Doc once asked me, "child do you excercise?" This after complaining about some pain or the other. I am not yet forty but I do stretch every now and again. Sometimes I am rearing and ready to go but for the most part it is a huge effort. I feel good after a round though and love when I am able to cover a certain distance without having to stop while jogging.
I prefer to dance than do regular routine excercise as its more fun and I get to laugh at my self. (I have two left feet as they say and cant dance) lol

I have to admit that the routine you posted wore me out!!! I try to walk as much as possible. The weather is getting better and we have this beautiful park close by and soon their gardens will be in bloom and that's where Ill be heading to do some serious walking and reaping the enjoyment of the surroundings. I also work in retail and the department that I take care of is large, much walking there too.
