Fear of traffic!

hey all! here's something that i seldom accept.I am scared of traffic. I live bang in the middle of a big city where u have lots and lots of traffic,at the sight of which i practically am parallysed.i do all that i can to avoid crossing a busy road from one side to the other...r any of u out here familiar with this? none of my friends have it...they find it pretty funny on the other hand. This is also the reason y i don't ride a bike or drive.R there ways of getting over this? It's pretty pesky at times...
