Where do you get your ideas

Where do you come up with ideas when you are writing? Whether you are writing a short story, novel, poem, or anything else? Where do your ideas come from? Mine come from dreams and ideas that just pop into my head.

Life experiences are a great inspiration. My husband is thinking about writing a book on life and relationships based on his experiences.

Yah, you're right. I even have I small notebook where I write all my thoughts or quotes that I found or read. That's nice, by that book he can also share it to the other people.

Carrying around a notebook is a great idea and some don't know about that.

When I write anything majority of the time it comes from my own mind. I like to write about things that I have experienced myself. I love to write poetry it is a very easy way for me to express how I'm feeling. I've written so much but I feel as I've gotten older I don't write as much as I use to. I wish I was happy with my life to be able to write like I use to. I don't have a job and still waiting for my chance to start school. I think once I have accomplished one I will have the confidence to start my writings again.

I just don't know where my ideas in my novel came from. it just occurred to me one day that I will write a novel with the settings in our city. there are other writers in our city but they write about our history. I want to write novels about our city. be it fiction or non-fiction. right now, I'm working on a contemporary fiction novel. details later...

I get my ideas from my analysis of life in general and observations from life outside. Sometimes, my experiences at work I jotted down in my discussion like my "ghostly" encounter or just what I think of mylot in general. My head is full of questions and discussions, but I'm taking it slowly. I wouldn't want to rush so much, ha!

Well, I really don't do any short story or poem writing. The only real writing I do is reviews on Epinions. I usually read a book, or use a beauty product that I enjoy, and then write a review about it there. I've made some decent money from the site doing this so far, but I haven't been active there as much as I would like. I was planning on writing a review on 2 books that I recently finished, but I haven't done it yet, hopefully I will get to it when I have off this coming Tuesday.

No, not really, I don't think. Well, they don't have a referral program, they stopped that a long time ago, but you can just go to Epinions.com. You just write your opinion about products that you use, such as cleaning products, restaurants, books, movies, even furniture that you've bought from specific retailers. I've only ever gotten paid once, but their minimum is $10, and they paid me fast. I'm not very active there, because you only earn by the amount of people that read your review, and rate it. My account has been at a stand still with 4.65 in it, but I also haven't been posting any new reviews lately.

Most of my writing has always come from personal experiences. I write a lot about how I'm feeling about a current situation in my life. I also write a lot about my past, my memories and things like that. Sometimes it's helpful to put things down and other times it just evokes more emotions. Either way, I continue to write, hoping to regain sanity. :-)

As using life experiences can be a good source for writing it can bring back memories that might be better left forgotten. It's good that you continue to write though!

Most of my ideas pop up while I'm doing something else, such as driving to work, photography and even while writing an article! Reading helps to polish my ideas too. Dreams, however are no help to me because most of the time I can't remember my dreams.

I am not sure where those ideas came from! Sleep helps provide many ideas, while walking can also provide an avenue for ideas!

I get some of my ideas from dreams so sleep does help. I didn't think about walking but I can see what you mean. You have time to think and ideas do pop up.
