the above is a popular quote of Albert Einstein.
In a world where everyone talks of world peace and universal harmony, all we see is strife and chaos all around us. People killing each other in the name of religion, holding processions, staging processions, launching nuclar warfare and biological warfare. Has the modern man of science forgetten his morals and become so indulged in developoing weapons of mass destruction that he no longer cares for peaceful co-existance? On the other hand we have the religious fanatics who take religion for its word and make a hue and cry for no rational cause. Is it possible for us to strike a balance between the two? If yes, how can we bring about this change?

Firstly, i'd like to point out that we have never had such a thing as peaceful co-existence....if anything, the modern day is far better than what it was like centuries earlier. Religion, if anything, provides an ideology that presents the 'ultimate truth' behind the universe and successfully draws a large following by being as vague about everything as possible. Religion thrives on faith. Religion, seeks followers that will not question what they are being told, simply because it was created to explain something which can only be explained by science - something they did not have back then......when they thought the sun was a god on his chariot flying in the sky from east to west. Now, religion undoubtedly provides us with a base of principles, something that science does not. Science is merely a tool that is at the disposal of the terrorist, the researcher and the politician alike. It does not seek faith but offers us an explanation to our questions. More now than ever, science is quickening in its pace and is giving us more answers to questions that seemed unanswerable a century ago. We do not really need a religion, which primarily relies on our fear of a god and a hell....but rather a base of principles that we can understand....principles we see the need for. I don't see this happening in the near future, but in a day where religion will no longer exist.....when science will be able explain everything. But that aside, religion and science will never come to common ground simply because the answers given by religion and its ideology are incompatible with science... and it is never the scientist that terrorizes or launches a nuclear attack, but people who claim to be religious and see the need to terrorize to further their agenda...this is with regard to
A true follower of science....is not a follower of science...Science is not similar to religion....it is merely a tool...i think its unfair on science to treat it on par with the likes of religion.
"Has the modern man of science forgetten his morals.........."
To summarize....NO, we can never strike a balance between the two because they are incompatible, and the existence of one questions the need for the other.....

i agree that we have never had a peaceful co-existence and certainly dont see it coming in the near future. but if religion was taught to respect science and science could take the "necessary" lessons from religion, we may indeed achieve something close to peace.

We can't prevent religious fanatics just as you can't science obsession. It is no matter that there are a small guys go to the extremes, as long as the majority of people remain rational. We shouldn't be bothered people have different behavior. People all think tatally alike is a terrible secene. It is so boring and you and me could't have any interests in life. Contlicting interesting drives the world.
