I assume you're referring to the studies on vitamin E, because that's the only vitamin they've recently reported anything negative on.
The problem with the studies showing negative effects from taking vitamin E is that they use only the alpha-tocopherol form, whereas in nature it's mixed with other forms.
Solution? Buy vitamin tablets where the vitamin E is NOT only alpha-tocopherol but also has gamma-tocopherol.
Another vitamin with potential health problems is vitamin A in its animal form; you CAN get too much of it and harm yourself (check the label for the amount of vitamin A). Vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene is safe, however.

I was told when pregnant that taking vitamin tablets if you are on a healthy well balanced diet can be bad for you, you in a sense overdose on these vitamins so your body flushes them out and at the same time takes a lot of the vitamins from your food with it leaving you with a low intake of vitamins. It is better if you can to have a well balanced healthy diet rather than relying on pills
