Listening to music or songs can have a soothing effect on your moods, especially when you turn on sentimental songs or soft music. Some people can even do work better. I like to put on some music when I am doing my household chores. Usually, I like to listen to sentimental songs, oldies and soft music. It really relaxes me, I can enjoy my work and I am in a cheerful mood. But it can get me into troubles when the phone rings and I didn't hear it or someone at the front door and I didn't hear them knocking at the door. Truly, it is kinda embarrassing when that happens. I know there are people who don't like to listen to songs or music. It disturb their peacefulness. They get irritated, annoyed and quickly turn it off. What about you? What type of song/music do you like?

well, different music suits different occasions. for example, a light music will add glory to relaxing times. when you are enjoying a meal from a restaurant, a light music will well suite. but when you have a mood to party, rock and beats will be more suitable. i have heard a lot of music by various composers, the one i liked the most and feel like the music of soul is the comopsings of yanni.

cool, but i have never tried that. i dont think i can try that also. because music composings need passion and a composer should be passionate about what he do. i dont think i have that passion about music. musicians are really great people. they can read people's mind. successful musicians know what exactly people want from their compositions. anyway, have a good day...

Yep, music does drive me more and inspire me to finish what it is am doing. I remember one time, when I was still working on a food chain and we are allowed to play the cd's we have on the store. Sometimes, when I don't have anything to do, me and my friend/co-worker would just sing some lines on the song while working. Somehow it soothes the pressure and stress we have, as we also get to have a little bit of fun while working. Most of the times, I listen to rock music. But I can listen to ballads, love songs and some local music. But not on hip-hop, I can hardly relate onto it. At home and even here on mylot, I do have some time to listen to music whenever and whatever it is I am doing..

When I'm walking I like the music to be fast and hard so I'm walking to the beat and pushing myself at the same time. When I am home relaxing, I like soft and cruisy music, sometimes opera or singers like Andrea Bocelli - very soothing and relaxing to listen to.

the music depends on the mood I am in. Sometimes I get in these moods where all I want to listen to is music and just drift away for a moment. I like mostly older style music like the cranberries and music like that soft listening but with heart.

Love Jazz Music - Relax, smoothing, easy listening
I love to listen to music. I like jazz, r&b, blues, & oldies. But when I'm cleaning my house i have to listen to some upbeat music to get me going and is part of my excercising. Then when my house is nice and clean and the kids are in their own rooms & I have sometime quiet time for myself I listen to relaxing smooth jazz and/or oldies but goodies.

A singer in my discussion! I love singing but I don't know how to sing the correct way. Did you take singing lessons or are a natural born singer?

There is this music theraphy which is one of the multiple alternative interventions implemented to decreased clients' perception of pain. Throughout history, from the time of the early Greeks until today, scientists have spoken about the efficacy of music therapy. Theory and practice of music therapy today show that music affects mood changes, can evoke past experiences, and be a stimulant or sedative. Studies have shown that clients who listen to music have less pain after surgical procedures and have lower anxiety, blood pressure, heart rates and lower analgesic requirements. Music does calm your hyper tensions , bad moods , reduce stress. I like some slow songs with a sting of love and romance. Sentimental songs and old songs are good to get some sleep as well as to keep focused. With the kind of changed in the modern music it keeps you charged up all the time.

Music is the expression of the soul. It is the meaning of every beat in our heart that keeps every soul alive with love, faith, hope and serenity. It is the whispers that we breath and gives life to the little angels in your lap. Full of unspoken meanings..of fervent dreams under the northern moon. It is the sweet serenade that captivates the spirit of every maiden spring.

There's a good book for all you cerebral musicians called, "This Is Your Brain On Music" by Daniel J. Levitin. He writes about: 1) How composers exploit the way our brains make sense of the world. 2) Why we emotionally attach to music we listen to as teenagers 3) Why 10,000 hours of practice-not talent-makes viruosos 4) How insidious jingles (a.k.a. ear worms) get stuck in our heads BTW, I'm not really cerebral, just like to read...lol DCMerkle

I am with you all the way, I enjoy to have my music on when I am doing my chores around the house also. I love country music but depending on my mood or what is going on in my life at the time I may listen to other types of music. When I am depressed I listen to a lot of setimental songs and when I am just trying to relax I love the soft music. I do think that people work better with music playing in the background then when they don't have anything at all. I have to say that all of us in my home love our music and no matter what room you enter you are going to hear some kind of music depending on which person is in that room at the time.

Yes, when I`m sad and I listen to a "happy" music,my mood change totally. Or when I`m happy and listen a music of remember me someone that hurts me so much in the past my mood chages too.. This is normal because the music transmites emotions for the people who listen then.

Music for me is the best when I'm upset about something because I will find myself realating through the song , and it makes me feel like I'm not alone. Songs also carry memories with people good ones and bad ones. Its amazing what a song can do for someone. I think I would go crazy without music in my life.

I don't think you can underestimate the effect that music has on your mood. I find it so helpful to listen to music if I'm stressed or sad about something. When I was pregnant listening to soothing music stopped me from worrying in advance about the whole birth thing and really helped me to get to sleep at night. Also, before i had a minor operation I was really nervous so I listened to my Eurythmics album on headphones at the hospital, and they were such strong, empowering songs that I just sailed though operation thinking "I can do this!"
