Have You ever been baptised or emersed in water for your religion?

I know that the Hindu religion has the emersion of water in the Ganges River for religious purposes. We Christians, can have many rituals, while others do not. Some Christian demoninations require simply asking the Lord Jesus into your heart, Some like Anglicans and Roman Catholics require what is called a christening sometimes referred to as a baptism though it really isn't here the priest or minister anoints a babies head with holy water and makes the sign of the cross while naming the child and accepting him or her into the church. Some denominations have a full or partial emersion in water to replicate the scene with John the Baptiste and Jesus in the Jordan River. Have you ever been baptised if so how was it done, or have you ever had a religion ceremony done with water in your religion, for me I have asked the lord Jesus into my heart, was christened as a baby and had a full water emerson. guess I covered all grounds

Wow, lucky you have gone through all types of Christian baptism. I was only baptized once and it was a total immersion like what John te Baptist did and Jesus in Jordan. I was also baptized in a river. For a moment I thought I was sinless after being immersed in the water and the flow washed all my sins away. I was about 11 or 12 years old that time.

Yea, but now I heard that they put a baptistry in our new church so there's no more trip to the river whenever there is a baptism.

I was both emersed in wated and blessed with a sprinkle of holy water on my head. When I was a small child I was going to a methodist church and was christianed with a sprinkle on the head of holy water at the age of six. When I was an adult I changed to baptist and was baptised by being emersed in holy water.

Hmmm I've been involved in a lot of water rituals, but they weren't necessarily dedications. Most healing rituals use water in my religion, as do some rituals involving communication or emotion. My dedication involved earth, sky, and sea.... the three realms.

When I was younger but old enough to know what I wanted I was baptized in a full water emerson which was hard for me since I did not know how to swim and was so scared of going under water but it turned out all real good. I was in my early teens.

I was baptized when I was younger, and then again when I was 19 or 20. When I was older I was able to appreciated and know what I was committing myself to.

I was baptized in the Presbyterian church with only a little bit of water on top of my head, as a baby. Some religions, like the Mormons, wait untild the child is old enough to decide for herself, before doing a baptism. My husband is Mormon. In the Mormon churc they do it by full immersion.

I have been baptised twice in my life. I got baptised the first time when I was about six years old. I really did not understand the whole purpose at such a young age. As I grew olde3r and started to understand more of what the Bible meant, I got baptised again, with full knowinf of what it was supposed to be for. I was dipped into, what looked like a bathtub of water. My whole body was dipped into it backwards while the preacher held my back and forhead. I accepted the lord in my life also.

Got baptised when I was a teenager, but then I did not really understand why I was baptised. They Baptist are strong in teaching, but my church did not teach me why I was baptised. Came to realise its meaning much later.

Six years ago when I found God again I asked for Jesus to come into my heart and then was baptised with the water on my forehead rather than full emersion even though I had already been baptised at birth so I suppose some would say I am a born again Christian. Guess you have all ares covered Winterose as you say. God bless. Ellie :D

Yeah. Me, too. I was christened as an infant in the Congregational church. Then asked the Lord into my heart at the age of eight at a Christian youth camp. Then I decided to explore the LDS (Morman) church and had a full emersion baptism in a baptism font inside the church. I left that chuch and when I joined the Missionary Church I asked for a full emersion baptism to proclaim my faith in Christ. So I, too, have had the full gambit of rituals. I believe in full emersion baptism to proclaim your faith in Christ. The baptism I had at the LDS church felt more like they were baptising me into the church instead of into Christ's family.

Yes you have had it all too, some baptize you into the church rather than the family of God. It depends on the doctrine of each church.

I can't remember how old I was when I was baptised but I will never forget that night. My church at that time had this pool like tub up front behind the preacher. We were told not to wear white clothing or everyone would see everything. My preacher and myself would step in the water, which was warm. The preacher said something and next thing I knew I was under the water for a few seconds. Thank goodness I brought some warm clothing even though it was warm outside, because after I got out, I was freezing.

I will tell you my story. I am a chatolic christian by birth and i saw baptism of children by waterin our church. But one day of my life, I was given a scholarship to study in Japan. Arriving there I met my classmates and many of them are muslims coming from Africa, malaysia , indonesia, fiji, brazil and many other places. One day, we are walking in Tokyo, suddenly a lady was urging us to go with her but since we dont understand the language, all we can comprehend was the word "come". Any way, since we are all boys and the ten of us will have no problem. So we went following this girl. In our minds, maybe many girls more will be there in the place we don't dont know where just keep on following. We entered a big house, they gave us each a white robe and summoned us to change. " Ah never mind just do it" one of my friend said , and so we did change our clothes with the white robe. After that , a guy lead us to a pool and was asked to take a dip in the water. Like a gentle sheep we followed. But in curiosity while all was in the water and heads downward, i flip around to see what they are doing , I saw the japanese guy chanting all around the pool and praying. I quickly realized its baptism. but I just kept it to myself. When the ritual was over, they offered us food to eat but just the same , we dont understand what they were talking. Then Rosly the Muslim guy from Malaysia asked me. " What are they doing at us" . I answered him" Brother congratulation, we are all baptized as Christian" LOL. Ha ha ha ha ha.What a funny way to be a christian.

Although some denominations disagree, baptism by immersion is not required. It is an act of obedience which most christians favor from what I've seen during my lifetime. I have a history, religion-wise. I was born an Episcopalean, so was baptized as an infant. Then when my mother married my stepfather, he was a Church of Christ person, so my mother and I were both baptized by immersion and accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. I was 9 or 10 then. I don't know why I was baptized again when I was 15. I think it was because we had moved and started going to a different church. That doesn't have to do with anything though. My stepfather was pretending to be an upstanding Christian man. So all together, i've been baptized three times. Two of those times I accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior.
