Do you trust charities?

For me I am skeptical about a lot of charities especially the ones online and on tv for stuff like feed the children. I just dont understand how 100% of their money goes to these things when they have to pay their workers. For example the feed the children ads on late night tv when you call you talk to an operator. How does that operator get paid? I think they get paid from the money we are giving away. Like I said there are very few charities you can trust. Do you trust in charities? please provide reasoning.

There are actually reports the government does on non-profits that you can view if you know how to request them. Also, the better business bureau's web site provides ratings of charities. (www.bbb.org) So you can research how much money charities spend on fundraising, salaries, etc. I tend to prefer to give to charities I actively work with. My favorite two are a shelter that helped me personally when I was younger, and the local crisis line in my area, which also provides victim services and does a lot of work with education on abuse issues.
