for instance you bought something for 15. you have 50 and they mistaken it for an 100. so gave you a change of 85? would you acknowledge the mistake and return the excess or will you keep it?
this happened to me last week and i choose to return the wrong change... ^_^

Thats an interesting discussion. I have actually worked in PiZZA HUT in the cash counter and once i had done the same thing. I gave a customer 75 $ instead of 25 $ and he was a sweetheart and returned the money. Had it not been for him I would have had to give 50 $ from my pocket. Because of him I always return the extra change that i get at stores.. However one time I did not give it back as the store cashier was very rude with me..so I kept it purposely

I choose to return the money. My Mom taught us kids that what we don't earn we shouldn't keep. So in my case it is a thing of being taught a long time ago to return what was not rightfully mine.

I would most definetly return the change, even if they gave me a couple cents extra. I'm sure it runs through your head that you just made some easy money, but it's just wrong to take extra change like that.

Hi m&m.
That was very nice of you to return the change.
That has happened to me before, and i gave it back.
I use to be a cashier before so i knew that any shortages she had, would be taken out of her paycheck. And my concience would not allow me to cause her grief.I would have felt as if i stole for her instead of the company. And in fact that would have been exactly the case seeing that she would have paid for it.

No I wouldn't return it. That money could buy me a drink or something.

I always give it back. Now, if I got all the way home and it was only a few cents, I probably wouldn't have gone back. But, something as big and obvious as what you mentioned would be noticed right away and I would definitely say something. I couldn't live with myself knowing that they gave me the wrong change and I kept it knowing that. I believe in something like Karma and if everyone did the right thing, there would be fewer problems in the world.

I believe that our journey is a series of consequences of the choices we had in life.
I would return it because obviously, it was an error made by the seller and it is just right to give back what is not due mine. I must with all love and care understand that others are working hard to earn as mine.
Cheers my friend and let's continue to spread love and care here at mylot!

Hi metal_monkee! There have been several occasions that it did happen to me and all the time I return the excess change. It really does not feel right if I will keep it nor do I think about keeping it. Just my thoughts dear friend. Take care and have a nice day!

hello,
that's great of you to return it coz if you dont the person who is in the cashier will have to pay for it.
anyway to answer your question, i do return whatever wrong change they give. i even have an experience where i have to return to the store because they did not charge me for it and i feel it shouldnt be with me coz i didnt pay it.
i am not sure if that is a good or bad thing to do, but i always feel that i cannot sleep at night if i know i did something wrong and id rather sleep tight without anything than to have something that is not mine.
just my personality, oh well!
anyway, keep up the kindness we sure need a lot of you!
takecare!

This has not happened to me so far. But,I would certainly give back the extra change.
If one is benificient this time, may be some other time, one may be the loser. So,I definitely would give back the money.
Sometimes, even shop keepers do it purposely to test our truthfulness.
Money got in the wrong way would not be of any use.One may even lose more than that some other day.
I am glad that you returned the money.
Cheers!Good day to you.
Happy mylotting.
