I am a chinese and now lives in Beijing. I watched BBC and CNN and I got know the barriers the torch bearers met in London and Paris and also San Francesco. I knew there were a lot of people who had never come to China but thought the problems in mind. I am happy to see the protests because it meant kind of democrary or a kind of different voice. I am not sad about the protests but sad about there were so many people who did not know China. I love travelling and I think a good way to know a place is to stay there for at least for one month. Therefore, I agree with the protests from whom do think there is a problem but I do not agree with the protests from whom just think it is funy to do so. People live on mind not no following. Because only the protests from real thiking is honest otherwise it brings prejudice. I also watched the state channel of China and youtube and the news on line. I got to know the true situation in China. The government keeps the habit of not reveal all the things and keeps on concealing.China is afraid of being protested openly. The protest is good for them to think over the true situation. In my opinion they do need not to protect people from knowing bad news because their people are not kids but good and wise adults.Let them know and let the world know that we are not what they think totally and not what they do not think totally. frankness sometimes is not that horrible. I also read the articles from the oversea students and it helped me adjust my views on the torch relay between Western world and China. They are some kind of witness. Then I got to know that torch relay is not the same as BBC or CNN reported because the reporters only vedioed the protesters but they ignored a lot of Chinese flags. Finally I have made my judgement that it is not what all BBC or CNN said or it is not what all Chinese government said. Do not believe your eyes and ears because the world is blindly misused by media. Every person wants to be wise need to analyze the materials as much as he can. Then you can see the true face of many parties. The torch relay is a weath of all over the world and it is also a good chance to protest. But do not stop the torch or misunderstand the spirit of torch relay, it is a kind of sin because Olympics is innocent. Protests are welcomed but please keep the fire in the torch on. Protest what you want while protect the fire of Olympic spirt. As for the real situation, why not come to China for the Olympics and also stay in China and see and judge by yourself. I met many friends from foreign countries and they had different view but their view toward China. Anyway, I hope the torch relay goes well no matter where it is or no matter which country hold this proud activity. I am trying to be at a fair standpoint and I am sure I am. What is your opinion?

I am also a Chinese. In fact I wanted to post something like this for some time. I don't mind whether people will care about it or not, but I do care. Some people just protest the Beijing Olympics because of the Tibet issues. However, how many people know another fact? No matter what, they shouldn't do something to harm the innocent people. They shouldn't rob, make a fire etc. If they have some objects, say it rather than damage other people. It is so wrong. I wonder how you feel if you experience it? Will you still protest? The Olympics should be a happy sports game competition rather than anything else. It shows we can compete in a peaceful world. Why it has to be related to the politics? Many sportsman have work hard by themselves. Will they quit just because of the stupid politics? Thank about it. I think some people are just jealous as China is becoming stronger.

Hey, me too but I was born in Australia. And I emphasise that I particularly agree with your last sentence. There's a lot of media bias going on that I have never seen before. They deliberately distort the truth, to discredit and belittle China, I think simply because they can't cope with the fact that China is now such a powerful nation on the international level. Normally reliable sources report that China invaded Tibet in 1951..what is with that?? As a news provider, they need to present the TRUTH rather than what people want to hear. What research have they done into this anyway? I can't find any reliable resource to suggest that Tibet was ever independent, but the media just relies on the word of the Tibetan Separatists. They also present the estimated 80 deaths by the Tibetan Government in exile as fact, when no one can actually confirm that. So basically any one who is anti China is favoured, and anyone pro China is ridiculed or not shown at all. ie. San fransisco protests, where apparently the chinese outnumbered Pro Independant Tibetans almost 10:1, only sections of the relay were shown where the Tibetans did not look out numbered. They didn't say the reason that the relay was moved was in case a fight broke out, the Chinese out numbered Tibetans so much that the Tibetans would have stood no chance. Anyway, the torch is coming to Australia on the 24th of April, and all plane tickets to Canberra and Sydney from other major cities are completely booked out. It'd be interesting to see what's going to happen in Canberra.

The riots during the torch relay in Europe and America remind me of the Chinese saying: Go on your own road, let others gossip.
