Does anyone own the internet, who makes the rules, who decides what gets on the net and what doesn't? Is it some esoteric being in a clandestine location somewhere? IS it a government of some country? is it the big industries like yahoo, google etc or some company that brings the internet to our homes? Do we the people own it? Do outside sources have the right to censor content on the net? IE books and movies. What do you think about the internet and who has the power to make these big decisions?

I am not sure who decides what. I do know that there are alot of scams on the internet and there are alot of sites online that should not be. I think we, the people, own it for the most part until we bring the higher ranking people into it to investigate certain websites. I think there should be rights to censorship to keep it running smooth and safe. I think the governemtn and the users of the internet should have the right to keep it regulated.

Way too many scams! lol I agree it needs to be optimal and safe. I definitely think people need to regulate it. Thank you for the response.

The World Wide Web was invented by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989. He is the director of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Of course, he released this invention to the public for FREE. So technically, he owns it... But since he is such a nice guy & decided to share it with everyone, now the Internet/WWW belong to the public.
