i think it is ridiculoous. what sense does this make. it is an open site, all ae welcome to start a conversation as well as reply. if people so wish to write about issues which are only subjected to a certain class of people i do not think they should be here. i would think that is a bit rude. this is a very nice site where nothing is hidden. lets keep it that way.

I agree with you! :) Discussions should not be limited. I have wanted to do some for "female only" etc but I decided against it:)

i've done a topic like this, well sort of. I created a topic aimed at the Latinos of the site, BUT that doesn't mean that other people can't post in it if they wanted to. There really isn't a way to stop someone from posting on your discussion anyway, even if you wanted to, so to try to say only this person or that person can answer is really silly in my opinion

I have to agree with you about how it's not too cool to limit who's allowed to respond based on their rating, number of posts, etc. Limiting by gender, I can understand. But not excluding someone solely based on what number shows up beside their name.
I have to admit I don't recall seeing any discussions that limited who can answer based on their rating. But I'm sure that's only because I haven't been around long enough and in time, I'll see some.
Now me just being me, it would be tempting to be a stinker and answer just because I don't meet the outlined criteria. Of course, then I'd probably just be setting myself up for a negative rating for answering out of turn. lol

i think i have written the discussion quite clear enough. still for your clarification, i saw a discussion where the user put in the heading like " its for the users who have more than 10000 post in mylot". the person who asked this has merely 30 posts.

you know what, it is up to our descretion whether we would answer a discussion or not just as long we both respect each other's view , agreeable or not but if we do not know the answer the question then we might as well don't.

currently i only limit my responses to 'my friends',
.. because i only respond based on the email alerts that i get from myLot...
hmm..
i wonder why the members would want to limit their 'responders' to a certain a group of people only ?
.. unless they think they can only get 'good-responses' only from this limited groups...
.. or unless, they are actually conducting a survey targetted to a certain group of people...
well, if i do come across such 'request'
- i think i would comply - why waste my time responding to it - if it is not welcomed..

I agree with 4mymak .. on certain things about this post. Yes, why limit the responders? well yes maybe they have a purpose... but myLot places it there to be on public for all.
And if I came across such request I would also gladly answer the post to my ability.

I believe I know which specific discussion you are referring to. I have come across that discussion too. For that specific discussion you are referring to, I DID not respond. The only reason I have is that I was not qualified to answer his queries. There are other discussions though that I have responded to even if the author specified who should respond to the discussion. This is because though I do not meet the "requirements" of the author, I may have opinions or ideas about the topic at hand.

At first I didnt get what you were trying to convey in this post but as I read some of the responses, only then it was clear to me what you were asking from us.
For me, for post that have such boundaries set in the post, I get interested in it at first if Im qualified and answer right away. But if Im not qualified, I still would like to answer it based on my opinion. I dont like to limit myself in what kind of interest or post to respond to as I like to have variety and expand my wings here in myLot.

If I had something to say, I'd darned sure say it!
The person posting it in a situation such as that is probably looking for information from seasoned myLot'ers, not realizing that his discussion is going to earn him more money if more people respond, no matter who they are.
If it's something controversial or opinionated that I don't really care about, I would probably bypass it (but probably would have bypassed it anyway).
I play by the rules and if I've got something to say, there is no one here that's going to tell me that I can't.

I have never seen a discussion like that or posted one, but if I did, I would probably (almost certainly) not respond to it. There might be a circumstance where I would respond anyway though I can't think what that might be right now.

Im with you I would have had to respond to.I don't think the number on your star, what color it is,or how many ratings matter. At least not to me.When I make a discussion I want anybody and everybody to respond.I think that thats rude.I might be busting some balls right now but who cares. We are all here to help each other out.

i will feel weird in this case dear. do you mean this newbie send pm to members, requested them to drop any response in his discussion?
if i got this kind thing, i won't able to response it. surely i will see the discussion but not sure gonna response. it means i can't force my self to drop any comment if the discussion not interested me at all. i am being here to enjoy mylot not forcing myself having more extra cash.
so i am sorry for this person perhaps i can't unable to help

I have never come across discussions like that, it kinda goes against a sense of community to do that. But I would have to see the discussion and decide if I wanted to respond anyhow.

i haven't encountered discussions like that, that the author wants only people with high number of posts to respond to it. the closest thing i have encountered are discussions about things that i haven't experienced, tried, seen, watched, heard, or anything that i don't know which i wouldn't be able to contribute anything. of course i wouldn't answer that discussions since i wouldn't be able to say something related.
