I always look them up on Snopes, as I have some friends that will believe anything. I never forward those urban legends, as I think the people who circulate them just do it to steal everyone's e-mail addresses so they can sell them to spammers. The silliest was one I saw described here today about that mass murderer who used the name Slavemaster and recruited victims on the internet. It is not a funny story, but I had to laugh aloud when the legend read something to the effect that if someone called Slavemaster e-mails you you shouldn't reply.
That would seem like a no-brainer to me! I wouldn't reply to anybody who e-mailed me that I didn't know, but especially not somebody with a kinky name.

The one that I got sent to me that is not real is one about a girl with cancer ... It is said that if the message, which has been circulating since 1996, is supposed to be forwarded and that this forwarding results in money being sent to help pay for her cancer treatment.
Unfortunately, this is very bogus, false, fake, etc.
as there is no way for the company to know who forwards messages or not.
There are many other urban leagans on the net. It is sad that they keep on circulating.
